Sorry to ask this, it has probably been discussed before... hide

I'm thinking of changing my oblong mirrors to stainless steel round ones, and would really appreciate some views (of which I'm sure there are many and varied) on:

appearance vs usability vs quality vs price of the different options out there from

Morgan originals, HoE, Librands, Phoenix, plus any others you may be aware of...

I'm also interested in your views what fits well and looks right in the original mounting arms, are the stainless mounting arms much better / worth the extra cost, and if so do they fit directly without any door modification.

The round ones I find better in terms of looks. My 97 car has the original mounts and they are starting to corrode.

I have no experience of the s/steel ones but all the stuff I bough from HoE fitted perfectly

Convex round stainless steel the way to go.
Better field of view, no rust and look nice, available from John Taylor who advertises in Miscellany.

I bought the complete set from Librands as the original chromed mounts was pitted. Had them in Sweden two days after order.

Beware - The round mirrors on my last car had very limited adjustment and were hopeless. Some are better than others it seems!

I second John Taylor's mirrors. Very good to look at and very adjustable, fitting straight into original arms and they are slightly convex which gives excellent vision.

Just fitted round mirrors from HofE. Fit straight onto original base, 5 min job. Look great and easy to adjust, particularly the nearside one. Gives much better view of car....or motorbike....you have just overtaken.

I have the Librands round stainless with convex glass, fitted in the original bases. Much better view than the originals.

Bit of a delayed update. Nonetheless, thanks to all who offered their views. I finally decided on mirrors from John Taylor. Received them today, and they were really easy to fit, about half an hour.

IMHO, they are a great improvement on the original MMC rectangular offering, both aesthetically (great S/S finnish and no unsightly grey plastic to hold the glass in place) and practically for improved rear vision (slightly convex lenses).

I also ordered a storm cover and full car cover (for the winter) from John. Both are very good and I could recommend them. Also, recommend John... great to deal with and very good service.

MZ
