Following from my light hearted Mk 1 roadster topic, I'd like to ask this next question in seriousness. There appears to be plenty of space above my engine. Bearing in mind my old plus 8 had the air intake across the top of the engine and mmc had had to bash it with a hammer to fit it in.....why couldn't I just add some spacers to the engine mountings thus raising the whole engine a couple of inches - it looks simple enough. Also, I was told that the engines are lower to allow pedestrians to land on the bonnet and have space to crush it before hurting themselves on the engine......is there any truth in it? Nick

All true about the pedestrains, all new cars require it for type approval.

There's not much clearance on mine. Anyway, I don't want pedestrians crushing my bonnet!!! Ian
an aero 8 is the answer to stopping pedestrians ruining our bonnets. That ankle scoop thing must trap them and force them under rather than on top of our lovely cars.
I saw a new Roadster the other day nd the air cleaner box is almost touching the hood.
The Mark ll Roadster 100 is like that. I decided to fit a block of Dave's magical Neoprene between the Air Cleaner and the Bonnet Hinges to stop the two rubbing each other away

So all you've got to do now is keep those pesky pedestrians off the bonnet
