Just got back from run and as I was putting the car away noticed a fairly large area of Bird poo which must have got on during the day. Cleaned it off but it has left a mark on the paint. Any advice for getting this off -it seems to have "eaten" into the paint!!! DJC

This one has been up in the not to long ago past , must be the same bird . Same answer you need to inspect your car as you walk towards it and remove it instantly . You also need many many coat's of wax on the surface to help stop it .

Yes - I raised it a couple of months back after some nasty bird poo damaged the surface of the paint. The colour is ok but it seems the top of the paint is now slightly 'rough'. I expect it can be polished out but I prefer to leave as is until someone who knows what they're talking about takes a view on what can be done.
You could always try one of those localised repair mobile van type things. Good luck and don't go out with that bird again.

You need to be careful, if you are confident to hand cut or Machine cut then go ahead, however it would be easier to drive to a local repairer, (if he's a good guy like me ) he will machine the mark out in about 5mins flat and say NO CHARGE, leaving you a satisfied hopefully future customer. Alternately purchase a bottle of Farecla G10, (smallest quantity 500ml) you will only require an egg cup full, but it will keep indefinitely for future use.

My advice would be NOT to apply any cutting wax - its easy to make a hash of it. If it's that bad and you want it sorted promptly, have a specialist detailer deal with it. I had a Bentley recently that was 'diamond black' a really very deep black. I had an avian cow pat on it that seemed to have damaged the paint. However over a few washes and a 'normal' Autoglym type wax (which is mildly cutting in any event) the mark gradually disappeared. Try a few gentle washes and a few normal waxes.... You might get lucky.

I advise avoiding parking under trees, lampposts or the edges of buildings, wherever possible!

Try the Meguiar`s website - they have a good Q&A facility. I find their ultimate wax stops the mess adhering and easy to wipe off (WD40 was once recommended to me). Their ultimate compound is great for removing blemishes without taking a lot of paint off. And NO - I am not on commission from them!!!:)

I had a nice day in Whitby last Sunday, came back to my mog and seagulls had made a right freaking mess.
Went to nearest loo got some tissue and water and cleaned it off but it has left circular marks - combination of water and droppings must have been slightly abrasive.
Will follow advice but next seaside visit will include cloth and bug remover spray.

Bird Poo - Cleaned it off but it has left a mark on the paint. Any advice for getting this off -it seems to have "eaten" into the paint!!! DJC I had a couple of large spots from very diluted splats which I had not noticed on my very dirty car when I returned from the Grande Tour . My car was given Autoglym Life Shine early on in its life but the Poo still left marks in the surface I have a tube of one of those patent Scratch Removing Pastes and used that to remove the marks left. Lots of Elbow Grease using a large pad to spread the effect. After washing the area I then coated the whole area with Autoglym Wax and all is well again with no demarcation .

I do have to say this...why, in this age of technology, can't the paint manufacturers come up with paint that is fit for purpose? I had the same problem on my high gloss black MINI roof....went away for a week, leaving it parked in the drive and came back to find bird poo etching into the surface. In spite of a lot of effort, the mark still remains.
