There are three switches downstairs. Each corresponds to one of the three light bulbs in the attic. You can turn the switches on and off and leave them in any position.
How would you identify which switch corresponds to which light bulb, if you are only allowed one trip upstairs?

Turn on 2 of the switches & leave it for a few minutes. Then turn off one of those two. When you go up the the attic, the one that's lit will be the one of the 2 that you didn't switch off, the one that's off but is warm will be the other one you had switched on but had then switched off. The one that is unlit and cold will be the one you never switched on.

How many flowers do I have if all of them are roses except two, all of them are tulips except two, and all of them are daisies except two?

My favourite brain teaser for a pub...

Three men go into a motel. The desk clerk said the room was $30, so each man paid $10 and went to the room. A while later, the desk clerk realized he'd made a mistake and the room was only $25, so he sent the bellboy to the three guys' room with a $5 refund.

On the way, the bellboy couldn't figure out how to split $5 evenly between three men, so he gave each man $1 and kept the other $2 for himself.

This meant that the 3 men each paid $9 for the room, which is a total of $27. Add to that the $2 the bellboy kept and the total is $29. Where is the other dollar?
