On the Cunard i was advised to tip 20% banghead, and they are so quick with the slip of the hand spend, 2 days in to the Journey i decided to read the full itinery (better late than never ooo) it was printed that a $70 (£45)charge would be added to the final account x 2, explaing that this would be equally shared between all staff through out the Ship rather than only the visual staff receiving.

At first 'although it did state you could request this charge be removed' i was quite angry and insisted i would have this removed, once i had reconsidered and having 1 member of staff to every 2 guests, with a service second to none on the final count i paid with no regrets spend

However once in NYC we visited a Steakhouse Restuarant, we had received terrible service even tho the place was quite, as we were leaving (and no tip left on the table) the Waiter followed us to the door bid us GOODBYE very abruptly and slammed the door behind us. woooooops Devil6

It would be nice if there was some mechanism for branching a thread.

Neil: Next time you feel like spending $5K on a meal bring them to Lake Como. We can arrange a meal and wine that will keep even the most fastidious client happy, will cost much less, and I will guarantee the service will be fantastic and the waiters will not complain about a $500 tip. The manager will even throw in a bottle or two of limoncello to help with the digestion. eat wine and even a tour of the lake could be arranged boat

I fully agree with regards to Cunard. We did the QM2 Southampton to NY return. Stunning service. Our young daughter 1at the time) was spoilt rotten by all staff.

I was taught (and do) that if displeased its better to leave a one cent tip to show you're not forgotten to do so than nothing at all.

If someone demands a good tip from you, "Don't do your shoelaces up in a revolving door" or "never play scrabble with Polish people" should do the trick.
