How strange. The floor mats in our Plus 4 are secured by press studs in the rear corners. I had assumed that was standard practice.

Mine are too Peter. I modified a new carpet mat on the passenger side with an alloy footrest....for my rather short legged passenger. She complained of sliding forward when I braked hard! The press studs pulled out too easily when she pressed her feet hard on the footrest, so I used the lift a dots.

You might ask why I didn't screw the footrest down to the floor; I wanted to be able to get both mats and rest out easily and didn't want to cut the mat.

In answer to some of the questions :

The Simmonds steering wheel is cosmetically nicer than the original it is very slightly smaller and does give a much improved view of the rev counter & fuel gauge.

Front inner tubes: have an offset nickel plated valve , superior Blockley inner tube, so they are heavier than a motorcycle tube. If you are touring I would suggest for the sake of a few pounds you carry a spare, you are not going to find a substitute easily.

Tool Box: I am located in Northampton the traditional home of the boot & shoe industry so it was nice to find a local person to make the box. It was dyed to match the interior colour and is lined in black goats skin. Obviously you could choose a colour to suit your car. I should make it clear that the box is bolted to the car.

Could you post a picture of this:

Flap fitted tho help protect the seat belt mechanism from the wet & dirt, without this you finish up with very dirty clothing.

John I'm not sure what your chassis number is but as before I'm guessing its an early car.

Waldemar the factory have a fix for the problem so the seat belt box now has a plate on the underside to prevent this problem. So if your car is still to be built you shouldn't have this issue.

I too needed to provide a footrest on the passenger side and made an angled footrest with a bit of plywood and some battens, I glued on a matching piece from a spare car mat and it pushes into the footwell and effectively shortens it. It provides useful hidden storage behind it and the average non-Mog person wouldn't know it was any different.
It wedges in tight with battens to brace it against the original end of the footwell and I keep a few very useful things behind there, all out of view.

I used one of these for the passenger footrest.

Screwed down through a spare floor mat to an ply base below and as said earlier, the mat secured with lift a dot fasteners. Great for storing things such as a first aid kit, spare bulbs etc under it.
