Armed with shiny new grease gun pack, decided to tackle dreaded nipples.

Only took me 15 minutes
To learn how to load and use grease gun. (Removing foil on cartridge seems to help) doh

Could only find one lower nipple either side - expected to see one near top of suspension but can only see three nuts in a line despite extensive search (wheel on so restricted view)

Could see new grease on spring so looks like job done but failed on other side - checked cartridge - now empty.

Does not seem right that I have emptied cartridge on one nipple? But no excessive grease visible, so it's off back to the shop for extra cartridges.

Might need skin transplant on knuckles trying to remove connector from nipple but sure job gets easier with practice drive

Hi Clipper, using a whole cartridge full of grease on one side does not sound right.

Can I suggest that before you drive off that you carefully check around the suspension that there is no excess grease. There is a danger that the excess grease could go on your brake disk.

When I grease my cars suspension, I feed through some strips of clean rags between the break disk and the kingpin housing to clear any excess grease away. However I am only talking about a teaspoonful.

A tip to get the grease gun off the nipple is to move the grease gun connector to a right angle in relation to the nipple and the connector should come off the nipple.

How big are the cartridges?

About 5" or 6" and I have used flexible hose and long metal extension so these are now full and container was sealed but did not look packed to me. Maybe Excess went on floor. Will keep an eye on things next use.

I found that the first time I greased mine ( from new ) that a lot of grease went in, much more than I was used to on the old Roadster. Afterwards, the steering was noticeably lighter. I suspect that the factory didn't fill the cavities.

I found with my grease gun that you do not need to fully tighten it up. If I fully tighten mine on to the nipples it's very difficult to get off. Mine works just as well only loosely connected to the nipple and the comes off with ease.
