Hi everyone,

Can any one help me with regards to those nylon type covers that you put over the cockpit (with hood up or down) to keep the rain out etc?

I have seen some that cover just the cockpit and others that go over the bonnet as well to cover the louvres. Is it better to cover the bonnet as well?

Any makes that you might recommend?

I've got the Librands one.
As some, even with newer cars, have problems with water/louvres the longer one, produced by John Taylor might be better.

The ones John Taylor makes are those your refer to that cover the louvres as well as the top. I have had two of those on my 4/4 and Plus 8 and they worked well. The one on the 4/4 kept it dry for 6 months when it was stored on my front drive.

Now that my paint is 'cured', I was going to buy the full cover at http://www.morganhoods.co.uk/products/carcovers.htm

But can anyone advise if this is the wrong move please? Although we may build a car port style mini barn, that wouldn't be until next year, so I was assuming that the more cover, the better....?

If you plan to store the car outside for a reletively long period of time (especially coming up to winter) it may be worth considering something like the following:

I have previously used their car-o-port in a semi open carage (2 sides open) for 2 years.

By not touching the paint you save the hastle over possible scratches...

The John Taylor cover looks good. The car will be garaged, but I am looking for something to cover the car when out for the day or at hotels overnight.

For a seamless 'Gortex' type material that is a very good price indeed and at least 50% cheaper than most on the market. Look forward to hearing further reports of its long - term durability/performance.

I have a 'Premium Priced' Rutter cover of similar pattern,except Draw Strings attach to the front Bonnet knobs. Hopefully the price will be reflected in its' 'longevity', a comparison of views could be beneficial to all.

Have not used it with the Hood - Up, but over the Tonneau no problems in very heavy Down Pours.

I have used the John Taylor cover on my +4 when my car was moved out of the garage for SWMBO to have store stuff from the house during an extension.

It worked just fine.
The car has a Simmonds hood so if I am away I use that. I guess the storm cover may add some extra security.
