Should be tubeless Steve. Can't remember when the tubeless rims came in, but it was long before 2010.

I bought a product called Air-seal this stays in liquid solution within the tube/tyre.Its used on all kinds of cars/vehicles. The litre bottle cost £25 and will treat all 3/4 tyres. Apologies for prolonging this subject, but I have just been hovering over a bottle in our local stockist. I notice the instructions say that for high-speed road-going vehicles the tyres will need re-balancing after the sealant is applied and the tyres have been initially rotated. Apart from the added cost, with painted wires I am reluctant to let the lads at the local type depot loose on this. I wonder how crucial this is; it probably is, but I wonder if anyone has any views...? A competitor product (OKO sealant) says nothing about re-balancing.

I use to use tyre sealant in my motorbike tyres until BMW started fitting air pressure sensors and I've never had to balance the wheels afterwards...and I've done some pretty fast rides well into 3 figures with no sign of vibration. (Germany m'lud!) I can't see there would be any difference with a car such as a Plus 4

From an engineering view point strictly speaking it must change the balance, but in practical terms how much really? I suspect not a noticable ammount....assuming the wheels are OK to start with.

How much liquid is sloshing around in the tyre. I seem to remember the forces applied by a relatively small amount of liquid are enormous...hence all the baffles in petrol tanks etc, just to stop movement. It don't take much water moving in a boat to sink it....would this stuff cause odd movements in hard cornering? Nick

There is less than 300ml each in the M3 tyres - not a great deal when u consider that centrifugal force spins the liquid around the tyre. The product I am using stays in liquid form - its very fluid (if u get my meaning) not sticky or "rubbery" in any way. With this product (see earlier post) the wheels need to balanced before the Air-Seal is used/inserted - so as mine were that was not a problem. Anyway its in now - and there is no discernible difference. I belive there are many different products of this type - so do take care to choose the one which suits u/yr car best Hope this helps

this is all interesting stuff! I work overseas and the Mog is at a standstill for a couple of months at a time. Last time I got back I had a flat so got the compressor on and went to the tyre shop but they couldn't budge the 2 eared spinner with the Mallet, is a hammer essential to get the shcock impact to the nut? I assume the stainless will not be an issue. Would be interested in details of the long nut spanner if it works on spinners, any tips would be gratefully received as I am new to wires and the Mog.

Davmog Morgan make a plywood former/extension piece that fits over 2 eared spinners, which then allows both the extra leverage required to undo the spinner and protects the surface finish. Not so easy to use if you have a +4 or Roadster, due to the offset rim, but the ideal solution on a 4/4. I also bought a 1.5kg 12 inch handled rubber mallet from my local tool shop. . . .it does the job! Bud __________ 2003 - 4/4
