Hi chaps

Anyone used this product or others like it ? Is it self-applied or do you need an 'approved installer' ? What's the cost for a +4 and where would it go (nose, wings, rear wheel arches ?)Is it visible once applied ? Do you have to re-apply at regular intervals ?

You do need to use an approved installer... Morgan at the factory only trust 1 person to install on the Aero's!!

Cost varies... There are set patterns and should come as a set.

It wil always be visable and will become more so over time.. the Armourfend can go slightly yellow over time. Defendall from what I have heard is not so bad.

Also.. if you use a regular polish or wax that leaves white residue (carnuba wax does not) then you'll get a white frame round the film if you are not extremely carefull.

It can begin to lift at the edges which is not ideal...

Stone impacts can chip the paint under the film.. which if you ever remove it can pull the paint stright off.

You don't have to re-apply until you either get a dent or it becomes tired looking.

It can scuff on the surface of the film.. you can see this on Aero's under the door on the running board (usually a popular place for catching heels for example).

Youre probably better off getting a decent Carnuba based wax 50% or better and using that. Carnuba wax sets like concrete, can be refreshed every year (no need for interim applications) and will never tarnish like the film does.

A lot of performance car owners use it to protect the paintwork on track days.

At £125 is cheaper than stick on solutions, looks better and will last a hell of a lot longer!

I had it factory fitted to my Aero and imho, it is a MASSIVE improvement over the old Armorfend I had on 1999 911. The old products yellowed and looked terrible with age, the newer product was visible but retained the clarity.

The only downside is when you wax the car - if you use a thick product, it will get caught on the edge of the film. Either use a soft brush to remove it once the product has dried, or use a non-residue polish.

You can also get a discount on detailing and if you ask them nicely they will send Chris Bailey to do it who is a Morgan owner. He did all the cars on display at the Classic Show

I'm using a guy for my wifes new sausage who comes very highly recomended and he wraps the film around edges so there are less lines.

I used Paintshield on the 7RS and wasn't totally satisfied to be honest although they are nice people. (Tom)
