I was recommended an insurance broker by my dealership. I called them today. Sad to say that I felt quite rudely spoken to.
I called the chap, and we went through the usual details. However, at the end, he asked my why I picked such a powerful car. This may have been a standard insurance question, as the man at another broker asked the same.
However, the man at the initial broker was, I felt, very rude when he said, "people your age shouldn't be driving a car like that, what do you want to do that for?". I'm 30, not 15.
I found it quite disgusting actually.
Is this standard, or is he a massive idiot?

What an idiot, how on earth has he still got a business.

Have you tried Headley I've been with them for 8years for Morgans and they seem fair.

Good Luck.

Yes, thanks. The lady at Headley was the most pleasant of all the people I spoke to and was very efficient.
This guy was called Gavin. Not sure if I should mention his business, in case he reads it and tries to sue me. From the above, he does seem petty enough possibly to do that!

Understanding motivation is a standard question when insuring a high performance vehicle. An underwriter will assess the risk of a highly specialist car like an Aero Supersports differently if the driver has owned and driven Porsches, Ferraris etc. You might like to know it also works in reverse - I was quoted less than £800pa on a Scuderia when a new broker learned I ran a 'Max.

Not sure why the first broker had an issue with your age though

I guess I didn't answer that question very well then. The question asked, initially, was "why did you choose this car?". I just answered it as if I was justifying picking it over another performance car. What I should have done then, was say that I like the sound and I want to go to shows etc.
I didn't have a problem with the initial question, it was more the suggestion/implication that someone my age shouldn't have such a car, which came after said question.

He's a massive idiot.

I had a Murcielago (quite powerful) and was not asked such a stupid question. Same with a Ford GT....

I use Headley for my Roadster and they're very good, decent quote too.

I think he did when he mentioned the person at t'other end of the phone line... smile I could be adding 2+2 to get 5 though...
I use G&W too, but then I only have a '76 1600 X-flow.
