Hey, Im new to TM, been a fan of Morgans for a long time, since i got a ride in one when i was 8. 20+++ years later i would really like to buy an aero and run it as an "every day" car.
Because of work i live in 3 locations so it would be driven regularly about one week in 3. Im not sure but i get the impression that there are not so many people driving there cars as an every day car and i wondered why, if i should think that the Aero is a high day an holiday car only?
I would probably leave it at my apartment in Poland, so would need a hard top for it.
1. can anyone give me any input on if a Aero would work as a "regular car" do you see any problems related to driving it in bad weather (snow -35C in the winter)?
2. Does anyone know of any available cars which might meet the spec. I would ideally want something around a S3 ideally pre march 2006 if possible.

Nothing to stop you and car is relatvely practical for a Morgan! Aeros drive well in snow and rain, and don't suffer aquaplaning badly.
Suggest you bear in mind:
1. Mileage affects value (even though the mechanicals seem tough).
2. Salt is not a good combo with ally and Morgan paint, nor good with chrome - door handles would deteriorate quickly.
3. Relatively little ground clearance for poor roads or deep snow.
4. Snow might get stuck in wheelarches.
5. Wipers are pretty hopeless under extreme conditions.
6. Most cars leak in some way.
7. -35C is very cold and would probably throw up issues that the relatively brief testing programmes of a Morgan might not have shown up.
Why not keep a little extra car (Fiat Panda 4x4 or whatever) for when the weather is particularly nasty, and help to keep the mileage down?
I admire your interest and idea, and you'd certainly enjoy driving the Aero - it must be almost totally unique in Poland. I was in Krakow a few weeks ago and imagined driving around in my S3. With all those pretty girls to impress I wish it had 4 seats so I could collect more of them at a time! (Wishful thinking sadly).

Well, its around 30 miles a day to work when im here, so average 3000 a year in PL + 2000 miles for running backwards and forwards to uk once a year and upto norway, i think it will be difficult to put on polish plates and even more difficult to insure.
On the bright side its so cold here there is little to no salt, quite alot of grit so i imagine the stone chipping wouldnt be great. I can get it repainted in the workshop in Norway as long as i want it in green or sand.
a number of the roads arnt great hear, the highway is generally ok, but the countryside is .... rustic a number of the roads are German built and france/uk inspired and will probably stay that way, last resurfaced in 1941 and waiting for France UK and Germany to pay for it again.
Snows not a huge problem here (3-4 inches), its mainly just very cold and icy in the winter and rather British this time of year.
Wipers are a concern, are there any upgrades? by leak are we talking Lotus leak or Land Rover levels?
When it comes to an additional car, i only have one parking space and I already have to many cars and dont use them enough i dont want to add anymore.
At the moment the other option would probably be a C6 corvette or a Caddy XLR. I need a V8 in my life in PL, some girls are quite nice, but there is an element of refinement/restraint required, its quite a social challenge that to fill anyone of these cars is more than weeks salary for standard hourly paid worker, the morgan does this, by being obscure.
I wish it was possible to have it in Norway but the tax rules make it crazy. £175k for an audi A7 2.5 diesel quattro.......

Buddy Ill keep this short ... (don't do it) these are not cheap cars to buy ... and the conditions where you currently live will screw it and worst of all it will devalue like a stone off the Shard ..... I promise it will leak ... mine leaks a lot worse than my landy.... my advice ... buy a Landy ASAP.  and get a Aero 8 when you don't want an every day car.

Several here run Aeros daily. I ran my series 1 as an only car, as did HarryF here for a while. One of our Series 4 owners runs his daily and has clocked up some serious miles too.
I found on my Aeros that the ground clearance was always a lot better than most folks thought - certainly easier than a ferrari or a porsche or my old Maserati 3200.
Aero on snow is no problem either in my rather limited experience, though powerful rear wheel drive cars and snow are really something that comes down to driver comfort with conditions.
Rain and leaks are an occupational hazard, but buy a later car and they are less frequent - my S4 didn't leak at all but my S1 was like a sieve. But yes think lotus elise rather than fabric landrover..
As said - -35C could throw up issues, but then the drivetrain is all BMW which has been tested in these conditions, so it's not as if it would be completely impossible.
Apart from that there are owners in the Nordics using their Aeros and trads for a lot of the year, but maybe not in the worst weather.
There are more folks who will be along to comment shortly I'm sure who are using their cars everyday. I'm not using my 'max enough these days..

as long as the roads are not slippery the Max comes out, that also means coming out in the wet, wet and slippery are two different things, i just hate greasy roads in any car.

Thanks Guys for all your comments.
I can live with rwd and terrible weather, i have to say for training there isnt much that can beat growing up with what started life as a morris marina, and it sprouting a 180bhp, being a student, it meant running retreds.... i think you all see where this is going.
But it does sound like i should look for a job in California or Arizona and then run a Aero as an everyday car.......so i need a republican president who is looking for reelection... 6 years or so before i think that is going to happen.
Seems my Morgan dream will have to wait a little longer.

Why not register the car in Poland? I own an Aero bought in UK which is french registered and Poland is in UE so should be no major problem.
