At least the value of our cars should now go up, as they'll have the 'pretty' badge wink innocent

With respect, I have heard differently from everywhere...in varying degrees of vehemence. I imagine some dealers alter their story depending on who they are talking to.

I think "Charles" is more appropriate when face-to-face and in the context of your close relationship. However, eMog has 14 Charles and I wouldn't want to get into habits that cause confusion. How about "Mr. Morgan". There is only one now and that works. Is that ok?

We can't pretend that divisions are not there. I have found it easier simply to recognize that all sorts of groups and divisions exist and accept and acknowledge all of them.

That's good. (smile) I have never met anyone who didn't think of themselves as a balanced moderate. Me too!

Phil, I agree completely. Too often emotion mixes with the inaccurate and unresearched to produce a very sad (even vicious) result. It is no secret that I am constantly fed fact from scores of sources. (I am not that smart all by myself!) If an item interests me, I try to sift it for misinformation and then go for looking for confirmation from unrelated sources. Even then, if it seems too unhappy or inopportune, I keep it discrete...often permanently.

I am afraid that history, experience and business suggests that yours is not a totally realistic (or fair to them) approach here. Though I have consulted with the MMC administration, I am aware that they have the company's interests to protect and nurture above all else. That loyalty often compromises complete frankness. I respect this position fully as I do with anyone in other businesses in the same position. However, one must search for objective sources to ensure reliability.

Do you feel that our primary loyalty should be to the MMC rather than to other owners? Again, as gently as I may, do you think that the MMC feels their primary loyalty is to you and other owners?

We all have an opinion but the anti MMC jibes are becoming a 'self fulling prophecy' and people are being influenced to believe that everything the current MMC does is bad without real facts behind this.

Please don't tempt me. (GRIN!) It has been made very plain that type of discussion is not wanted. I have no problem with that whatsoever. Frankly, the only reason to present unpleasant facts to one's brethren is in hope it will protect them, assist them or helps the company to change for the best. Even with all that, it is no fun doing it.

Best is to try to avoid suggesting anything to discourage the voicing of any opinion. Discussion groups thrive on discussion. If we all agreed, we'd just be toasting each other all day and that gets very boring. (smile)

NOW, what would you like facts on??!!!

Now I'm really confused. confused2

Having understood that the new logo will be standardised, and replace all of the current ones in use, I see from the Centenary site http://www.morgancentenary.co.uk/index.html that yet another (retro) style is being used for that.

Presumably both logos will be running in parallel up to 2009. If so, will that not rather defeat the aim for standardisation? If the aim was to project a “thoroughly modern approach” whilst looking “forward to the future” why not use either just the new logo, or else (and probably better) make up a banner using both first and new, to help ‘anchor’ the new one with the history of the company....? nerd

I would have thought that any media attention for the event would be best directed at a single and on-going logo, rather than a one-off of limited duration?

Agreed Paul, but 2009 is being organized by 'Consultants' so they have to show something for their efforts, using the 'old' or 'new' style logos' doesn't justify the bill at the end of the day!

I don't remember exactly when the centenary logo was introduced. I only know it was more than one year ago, probably two.
Maybe the design for the new logo wasn't completed by then and with the end of 2009 the centenary logo will disappear.

Yes, pretty sure you're right on all of that Rod - designed in the past, and will terminate with the festivities - just concerned that it will rather lob a spanner into the works re managing the process of changing the main logo over.

Paul,

Don't worry. smile (Most people are interested in the cars and not in any logo.)

Actually many people are interested in the cars. I've read on Mogwire there will be a new record this year with about 680 produced cars.

Good news!

Rod,

Saw the article - we and Camelman are partly to 'blame' for that, with a full set of 'trads' between us!

Watched the latest 'Harry Potter' film last night; wouldn't it be wonderful if they had a convoy of 4 seater Mogs at the start of term to pick up the munchkins from the station! They would fit in very well with the style of the films, and it would probably help to increase sales even more!

I am not sure that is entirely correct. There might be confusion between the logo and the Centenary.

Though I have not, admittedly, been tracking Centenary details closely for some time, I recall that the Centenary arrangements are being done in-house by the MMC. For this purpose, they formed a separate company called Morgan Centenary Celebrations Ltd.

It was managed originally by three company employees under Mr. Tim Whitworth (the MMC controller), and one representative each from the MSCC and the MTWC. However, I believe that has changed to four MMC employees and one outside community rep. I had not heard of any outside consultancy. I am sure Mr. Whitworth will do a fine job!

It is the Company announcement on the new logo that mentioned outside "consultants". These are Liquid Communications Ltd. You will known them well from their very successful campaign in the UK for "Smoothies" or for their ads for Danone, the yogurt and bottled water company.

Liquidcom had approached the Works through a single director three years ago but were turned down (then) by Management. Apparently, according to the October MMC announcement, they came up a wings logo since that captured the hearts of board and the Morgan family. A canvas of the Agents or other market polling was not done.
