Have asked for a mesh grill for Christmas from my sons. Probabily get a pair of socks!

Call me a freak, but I think the stainless mesh behind the waterfall dilutes the definition of the silver strips and the darkness behind. However, I like the idea of the mesh stopping my Rad being used for firing practice by stones.

Does anyone sell a mild steel version that you can paint, or a black painted one? It seems a shame to pay £100 for a stainless one, then paint it, especially as I thought stainless can be hard to paint, and rusts if the stainless steel is not exposed to air...

More likely you'll get a string vest.

I got mine supplied in black from Simmonds, they used to list black as an option. My car's black and you hardly notice it behind the grill.

I have a very fine mesh (fly screen type but mild steel) behind the grille since 30 years to make the electrical fan in front of the rad less visible. It is still in good shape and I had no cooling issues even without using the fan (I only need the additional fan in traffic congestions).
