Just saw that Dave Brubeck has passed away. Sad, but he had a great innings and certainly left his mark and seemed like a nice chap. RIP

Sometimes it seems like some people have died twice.
Of course, Bob Monkhouse actually did.

I like "Take Five". His era of jazz was the best era.

In a 2010 interview, Brubeck envisioned an afterlife where he'd again see his family and jazz friends, including Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Stan Kenton, Woody Herman and Art Tatum.

"If there's a heaven let it be a good place for all of us to jam together and have a wonderful, wonderful musical experience," Brubeck said.

Here's hoping that is so.

swmbo has had "Take Five" as the ring tone on her phone ever since it was possible to put a music clip as a ring tone. We will remember him every time she gets a call, or when she calls me because I have set "Take Five" to play when she calls me.

Needless to say we are great jazz fans.
