The standard plastic cowl is amateurish and ghastly. Quite how Morgan can send cars out with this finish is beyond me.
Presumably because people are mug enough to buy it rather than saying I'm not going to pay £50K+ for something so naff.
I'm not sure I'd put myself in the 'mug' category, in fact anyone with the spare cash to spend is probably not in this category either.
But this one small element is a distraction. Solved by a leather trim in my case and rather elegantly solved by Ian (above).
If the solution is a simple one it begs the question, "why was it not done in the first place?". For £50K+ I don't want to have to resort to DIY solutions.
The reason it wasn't done in the first place is that the cars were designed with the Morgan standard leather rimmed steering wheel where the rather large boss hid the cut ends of the cowl. That said...they really should have realised that most owners would immediately replace the standard wheel with a MotoLita! Even on a £30K 4/4 I had no wish to resort to DIY solutions!!

Im also a 3.7 Roadster owner and I’m in total agreement with Neilda the standard cowl is not one of Morgan’s finest design details, but factory leather cladding is a low cost option and although not perfect improves matters no end.
I suggest Max due to your general negative attitude you are most likely signed into the wrong forum, perhaps you should put your money where your mouth is, go buy yourself a Porsche or a high end Mercedes where they most likely have a budget the size of Morgan’s turnover for the for design of the steering column alone, you will be happy but possibly very boring.
I own both of the above marques as well as the Morgan they have their unique qualities and purpose, but for out and out fun the Morgan runs rings around the far pricier metal on the drive.
As for the mug comment, I have the choice to spend my spare cash wherever I like, and in doing so make allowances and purchase with my eyes open. One thing is for sure the Morgan almost without doubt will have the lowest term cost of ownership of any other car I currently own and most likely any car I have owned for the past fifteen years. It is also probably the most widely appreciated buy others, puts smiles on peoples faces and a hoot to drive as well.
If I decide to spend a few quid on finessing a few details I really couldn’t give a toss, it’s all part of the package for me. And if I’m a mug for enjoying the rewards of my efforts so be it, at least I'm a happy mug.
OK I will chip in with my bit. I ordered the car from Morgan with a leather covered cowl. It is better but, as you can see from the photo that Clipper posted, there is still a gap. I don't particularly like the metal solution and I think Shiremog's is better.

Wow Thanks guys forcall of the great feedback and options 1 The 'german option' looks to be real quality but draws attention,rather than the focus being on the wheel boss 2 The leather 'wraps' are good but the platic cowl is not cut back it seems which defeats the purpose
In think I am going to cut the cowl back,fit a baffle,then have a local Aussie trimmer cover it to match my seats
I too am not over happy with the plastic cowl on my 2011 +4, however my previous +4 ( a 2007 ) had a much neater type which was shorter and enclosed the steer boss such that only the alloy part showed. Would the earlier type fit the later model?
