As far as I know Weismann are going strong. I'm not a big fan of their styling but they seem to be well engineered and certainly hold their money very well.
I have no argument for, or against Corvettes, I do not know the cars very well. If your point about the MF5 being an expensive Corvette, is based on rarity of the Corvette then, fine. I don't fully understand the thought process, but I am sure that that is down to me.
<<may be im not refined enough for your tastes>. I'm afraid I actually don't quite understand this. If we were talking about cars then if I point out that my personal two cars are a Morgan and a Land Rover Defender, then I would probably not need to add any more.
<<how much do you use the mog?>> I drive an 02 Plus 8, which until I retired was my daily driver. (Why does my car have door handles? so that I could get in it in the dark, in the pouring rain, wearing a suit and overcoat and carrying a laptop and brief case.)
But back to the MF5, I would rather have an Aeromax, but celebrate the fact that such cars are still available in this day and age
On the corvette front, i have a bit of history that looks like Camaro Z28, its gearbox had alot in common with a lamboghini... tractor, but then i was young and dumb and bought a manual, good fun driving around MK in the wet
Then changed that for a Vx220, which was great but didnt work for long distance motorway, or clothing that i didnt feel that kneeling in was a good idea (im not sure if you have tried to get out of one but the only things thats worse is a caterham 21)
Then switched to a C5 Vette, and it did all the things that i could ask, it was fast comfortable, surprisingly economical, it behaved its self on the whole. Followed this with a Monaro, Alfa 166 (tried to be a grown up), Maserati QP then went all sensible and got a Citroen C5.
I drove a Z06 'vette C6 about a year ago and it just does everything that i think you can want it to particularly up against my perception of a MF5.
but your right i would rather have a Max than the vette or the MF5 but would probably need the difference in price between the MF5 and the Max to fix all the annoying small things, like wipers not working properly, no arch liners etc
I really like proper GT cars, and this is sometimes where my love of morgan styling clashes with my sensible side
Didn't the film say they sell 200 cars a year. Difficult to see how that's enough to pay for the facility, staff etc.?? Without the US market and at those prices they will suffer. Cheaper ones probably make more sense, especially since I believe most buyers of $200K type cars don't really think fibreglass is special enough.
My 11 year old son likes them, though! We saw one in the carpark at Goodwood Revival.
Im not sure why they dont try and win more in this 70k segment, its going up against some big rivals, but, its proibibly easier to have a small slice of a big pie than the other way around.
These cars are pretty cool, one of my customers drives an MF5..way too expensive though! Wiesmann has not gone out of business (yet),but the two founders, the Wiesmann brothers, have left the company.Let's wait and see what happens to the company.
