I don't like the third brake light. I plan to remove it (where I live it's OK to do this). When I take it off, does anyone have any experience with filling the hole that it leaves?

It seems a strange thing to dislike; why? As to filling the hole, surely the best thing is the light itself (anything else may so easily look like a bodge), so why not simply disconnect it?

If we are talking about the cobra? then I am aware of a few people who have removed it, on my 2002 it would not leave a hole. DaveW has some info on how the cobra is fitted.
Whilst I think a trad looks nicer without it, I would not remove mine, partially because of safety, but primarily because of insurance implications.

All you'll end up with is four holes in the wood, so easy to fill. I wouldn't remove mine simply because it provides a higher level warning to those drivers who don't pay attention, and it might just make a difference when it matters.

Take it off!. The car looks so much better without it.The previous owner of my Plus 8 removed mine,. so saving me the trouble.

Leave it on unless you like the idea of being rear- ended, ugly it may be but it looks a lot better than a crumpled back end, I got into the habit of keeping my foot on the brake until the last moment before pulling away, especially at roundabouts

I have just taken my cobra type off to fit a cable connection for a luggage top brake light. Believe me, with the tailgaters in Italy you want all the help you can get. All goes back on tomorrow.

As ugly as it may be i wouldnt understand anyone removing these brake lights, especially the experience i have encountered since owning the Max, how near to your rear end people will drive to get a thorough view.

Tailgating seems to be more prevalent these days, as well as inattentiveness by drivers due to distractions - mobiles/in-car entertainment - rowdy kids/passengers - guirls in short skirts........
I would leave it on as every little helps.
