Obviously, Sukhathai's pace is a classy joint, but some time back me and wife spent a fortnight in Phuket at the Holiday inn. Now anyone who has been to Phuket will know it has shall we say a racier side to it, if that is what you want, but holidaying as a couple, I did not expect to see too much of it. First night there, we were in a bar, when a nice hostess came over and talked to us.  Imagine my suprise when while talking to us both perfectly normally, the hostess proceeded to give me a "special" under table massage without my wife suspecting or picking up on my raised eyebrows.  Technically, this was an assault and I should have complained of course, but decided to keep quiet about it.   I was assaulted thirteen nights in a row that holiday!  That can happen, but there is so much more to Thailand than this. Beautiful country, lovely people - like most countries there is a seedy side (there are plenty of seedy spots here in the UK) but it's so easy to avoid if you don't want it.

Dear Dave, First of all, I hope that your wife doesn't read TM much. It sounded like you picked the wrong (right) bar to go to. Yes, Patong is definitely the "racier side" of Phuket. The island is as big as Singapore is, and a lot of development took place in the last 2 decades. It is still very quiet around where my hotel is, and very dull in comparison to your adventure. It would be interesting to hear your Bangkok stories.

I believe that I have stayed in your joint, Sukothai! I thought it looked familiar. As you may remember, my wife is Thai (from Nakhon Si Thammarat, just the other side of the coast from Phuket) and we visit Thailand pretty much every year. I have been to a few hotels in Phuket.
From what I remember we had a great stay and loved it. Wow, The World is indeed small.

It would be interesting to hear your Bangkok stories. Had a couple of days in Bankok then went up to Chang Mai prior to Phuket. We were there in May when you have some kind of water festival where everybody throws water at one another. First we knew about it was when some smiling locals chucked a bucket of water on us while we were walking down the street  Great fun though once we had bought our water pistols.

jnr was born at Chang Mai. We go to Thailand every three years or so. She can't speak more than a couple of words in Thai because she came to Italy when she was less than two years old (now 19). Quite amazing how her tastes in clothing, food, etc tend to be very Thai.

Quite amazing how her tastes in clothing, food, etc tend to be very Thai. Small world indeed. My son Jacob, now 13, is adopted from Thailand. He was born in Samut Prakarn and sadly abandoned by his birth mother. We adopted him through the Thai Government and bought him to the UK when he was just over one year old. Apart from his appearance he is now a typical British teenager, obsessed with Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings. He loves Morgans as well.

Thank you Brian, Unfortunately, she won't be here any time soon, I'm planing to use the car in the UK for the next few years since both of my kids are at school there for the next 8-9 years there about. One of them is currently in Malvern, hence the start of my love affair with a Morgan. I will surely enjoy her in Europe as much as I can. Hope to see some of you over there soon one of these days. What a great car to have for school visits!  The other kids will be highly impressed. Do let us know when you are coming to the UK so that we can organise a get-together?
