For two wheeled enthusiasts, RPM-Morgan ( www.rpm-morgan.co.uk.) now have added Royal Enfield to their Norton and Morgan dealerships. Probably a good match of classics. Don

Adding Royal Enfield will surely make the customers appreciate how modern and up to date Morgans are.....

They have had a good selection of these classic machines at Berrybrook for the last 5 years or so and they are all easy on the eye. http://berrybrookenfield.co.uk/

I went to Berrybrook to get my Plus 8. They had 3 Enfields there. Great looking bikes. I have seen a TV prog of someone touring India by bike. They had a factory there hand building them. If they broke down in use then any workshop nearby could fabricate parts/repair them.

No don't put ideas like touring India on a bike in mind - that would be a nice leisurely one out there. The simpler the mechanics and lack of electrons flying to every vestige of the bike the more survivable you are, and as you say you don't need an Engineering Masters to fix it the average roadside bike shop cando. Something about big single pot bangers that appeals to me and I think Mark & Martin know it's just a matter of time

Lived in Bangalore India for 3 years and these bikes were 'kings of the road' . Of course they are manufactured in India now and very Indian but with great British heritage. Would of loved to have shipped one back .

My experience of the roads of India means I'm not even sure if I'd want to drive a car there, let alone ride a motorcycle. The strong belief in predestination seems to lead to a recklessness that is quite alarming to a westerner (for example a lorry or a camel pulling a cart coming at you the wrong way down the fast lane of a dual carriageway is an everyday occurrence). A good local driver and a strong car is the way forward. Mind you, having said that, when a diplomat friend of mine was at the High Commission in Delhi, a newly arrived colleague asked his driver (in exasperation at his inability to stay in lane) what he thought the white lines were there for got the reply "I don't know Sahib. Is something you British have left".

Giles I hear what you are saying but an adventure it certainly would be. Joe (No3) and Natalie(GF) went to Sri Lanka for 3 months sea and surf three years ago at the huge cost of £6-00 each for a beach chalet and evening meal, they had a ball. Apparently a "longdrop" was included in the price and the record for maximum mosquito bites for one night per bum is held by Natalie at 22.
They spent 700 miles touring the islands more hospitable areas on a hired motorbike and loved it. So maybe just maybe
