I'd be very interested in hearing if anyone has actually tried installing a 3.7 gearset in a pre-crossflow car. This setup should yield 3428 RPM at 70 mph and 3094 RPM at 60. Will the stock 87 hp motor support this?

Thanks in advance for any replies,
Warren

Warren, my old 4/4 has the 3.7 gearset ex works and I never had any problems with overheating but when driving in convoy with other Morgans I always had to change down earlier than the others in the alps, which was a nuisance. Boring the engine to 1650 ccm has given a little more torque. In all other aspects the difference to the cars with the 4.1 gearset is minimal.

BTW: Bringing down the revs was in my case quite cheap. Recalibrating the rev-counter brought the revs down from 3900 to 3200 @ 100 km/h wink
