So whats the handbook say about the running in procedures? And also what are the service intervals? Just some random questions before taking delivery <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif" alt="" />

For the first 1,000 miles Morgan recommends that you keep the engine under 4,000rpm After you've had the car for 2-4 weeks (or 1,000 miles), they service the car and tighten anything that has become loose (and fix any issues that have arisen). There is no oil service at this time as the engine has been bench broken. Pretty simple really <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Service intervals I'm not too sure about - I'm sure someone else will come along and answer that part. However, BMW offer variable service intervals on the V8 4.4 valvetronic (depending on how it is used, temperatures, time, type of use, driving conditions, etc), so chances are that if Morgan are stating yearly intervals, this may be mild overkill.

Every 5000 miles according to the handbook (and the factory). Considering the smaller loads exerted due to weight advantage - especially say compared to an X5 installation - then I agree with the overkill comment.

Ouch 5000 miles? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> I've done 28,000 miles in the lotus over two years and i'll be sharing the aero with my mum! But she'll be more the weekender and i'll be the weekdayer. Seems like i may be popping over to the uk to get it serviced more then i expected to be! Anyone recommend any dealers around the midlands or near london that offer exceptional servicing and take good care of the car? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Though I am led to believe that Melvyn Rutter is a good port of call. (Cant exactly remeber where he is but somewhere oop north I think) AA

See here for the Morgan dealers (Rutter is probably a bit far east if coming from Ireland) . Morgan factory or Mike Duncan would be my choice in the west midlands - or there's a whole cluster near London.

To put things into context, I've had 2 X5s - both with valvetronic engines: - one a 4.4 Sport and the other the more aggressive 4.8is - both had the BMW V8 (the 4.4 the exact same as the Aero engine and obviously the 4.8 being a more 'tuned' and slightly larger displacement version of the same V8).
Both were driven VERY hard and daily - the 4.4 ended up 'asking' (due to variable servicing) at over 16,000 miles and the 4.8is was nearly 19,000
These are tough engines and I'd love to know why (or what Morgan have done) that makes them believe they need servicing every 5,000 miles? Surely they are servicing the non-engine bits, rather than a V8 service? As I don't have an owners manual yet, I'm none the wiser...
