Thanks for that Giles.....great to see another Spitfire restored and flying again! I wonder if they ever find the ones (if they exist) in Burma?

They haven't so far.
All looks a bit of a red herring at present...

I reckon they probably do exist, but maybe not in the beautiful crated up and ready to fly after a rub down with an oily rag condition that the stories have suggested. I do hope they manage to unearth them - it makes a great story.

I was down a Goodwood last year with a pal just for the ride. We were sitting on the veranda of the flying club with a cuppa and two Spits one of them a two seater taxied passed and took off side by side .... what a sight .... and what a sound.

The hairs on the back of my neck stood up ... just brilliant !!!

Lets hope they do find them ... fingers crossed eh!!

Thanks for sharing that Giles - great to see another one back where it belongs. Look forward to seeing it airside this year at some displays.
We are having a family weekend at No1 Daughter and SIL's 13th & 14th July, coincidentally Duxford is holding it's Warbirds weekend and maybe we will have a treat and see the new addition.

This later Mark bears little resmblance to Mitchell's prototype particularly with the clipped wings - still unsurpassed in the beaty stakes and a beast of a thing with I guess 1,300+bhp on tap.

Let's hope they do locate the Burma one's - a lot of resource has been thrown at this already.

Regards

What a lady keeping Nick her late husbands spirit alive .... just amazing how she took on learning to fly a spitfire you have to admire her guts.

Don't hold your breath guys......I think you'll find that the two seater Spits in the UK are not certified to take paying passengers frown You can arrange to fly in formation with Grace and her Spitfire which I guess is the next best thing.
