I love the Ryanair joke, we really don't want to let this one out of the bag !

Can you imagine the ideas it could spring for them.

They charge you more if you want to get off when it has landed (otherwise they drop you out of the bomb-bay door (parachute optional upsell).

They could do one run from Southampton to Aberdeen and drop many people off at the same time for a reduced cost.

It would put the joke about charging for the toilet roll in perspective.

The £250 is probably not really raising a lot in real terms. Can you even imagine the MPG of 4 Merlins ? Warm up alone would be a bit of a monster in consumption terms.

Dangerous. Michael O Leary would have Easyjet carpet bombed at Luton.

Just watched this amazing (tongue in cheek) story about how the ageing Vulcan (same designer as Lancaster) was used to bomb the runway during the Falklands conflict.

Lets hope that crazy swmbo politician ( not yours Heinz!) doesn't keep stirpot

It is interesting to watch this and then read the book about the same run, it shows the real detail and length these people are willing to go to. The preparation and training sections alone make you wonder if you would have walked away in their shoes.

If you can read the book before watching it would be well worth it.

Regardless of the ethics of war and the ownership of the islands which I have no public views on their strength is inspirational.

Going in the opposite direction for those of us with a technical fetish !

http://www.getpebble.com/

A watch that links to your iPhone/Android and displays various messages and other functions ! What I find more remarkable is that the company raised it's initial capital on a web site for public investors. www.kickstarter.com. It got the desired $100,000 in the first two hours and then went on to receive $10m.

Sorry for those of you with proper taste (I do keep a JLC Duo as my main watch just in case you were about to write me off)

Just thought it was a laugh. So modern, disposable and lacking in real culture. A classic example of how the new lacks the depth of the old in so many ways.

Audemars Piguet would make you a Royal Ash instead of the Royal Oak if you ask them nicely wink

Well I went and ordered it didn't I. Let's face it the Morgan is a car with a difference and I just had to have a different kind of watch to go with it.

I did not take a photo of the back but I found one on the web.

I have always been fascinated by the one handed six hour clock and when I saw the MeisterSinger watch on this thread I looked at the whole range and was really taken by the Monograph. As a chronograph it is pretty much like any other watch but the watch itself only has one hand. Really accurate reading of the time is possible but not easy. It is much easier to read the time as an approximate. In this case it is actually one o'clock. It leads to a slightly more relaxed attitude towards time which goes well with the Morgan.

For the story of our (long) weekend away to collect the watch http://www.talkmorgan.com/ubbthreads.php/galleries/120895/New_watch
