Great photos!
I've been lucky enough to have driven the circuit in my GT a couple of times, in the Classic.... The last time was under headlights. Amazing to touch such high speeds in the dark on the Mulsanne.

That must have felt very special indeed - did you feel any Derek Bell moments (in the zone) or is it all a bit frantic and happening very very quickly. Fabulous experience.  Great photos!

I've driven with Derek (not for the faint hearted) and nearly bought a hotel with him in La Sarthe.... Glad that didn't happen! Things do happen quickly, particularly as you come into braking zones with other drivers at speeds approaching 200mph - it's also awkward to spot drivers trying to overtake on the inside of corners when you're wearing a full helmet! Quite a shock sometimes to find a Ferrari on your line as your turning in. It's also easy to get it badly wrong, which is why I admire good drivers who can flow around the circuit. Many's the time I've found myself having to use the brakes mid corner and cursing at my inept driving. As anyone who's raced will tell you, it's very easy to lose the sense of quite how fast you're going. There's no reference really, you glance at your speed and realise you're taking corners at extremely high speeds. After an hour or so you realise you're soaked with sweat.... But yes. A major experience. And a total thread drift.

Thank you for your most interesting and very candid description of your time on track at Le Mans - fantastic experience. A long term fan of Derek Bell with his lets just get the job done approach - possibly his farming background helped - that must have been a lifetime highlight. No more thread drifting  till .....
