Asbo and 1560: I might come back on the quick release thing. Just had another go and still can't get it. It goes on, engages with the "teeth" and works to turn the wheels, it just doesn't seem to go on far enough, and can still be pulled off. And thanks for the tip on the seats, just found pools of water (and mud! How did that get there so quickly?) underneath.

Yes, you have to sort out the steering release. When I took delivery of mine, one of the bolts on the wheel was deliberately too long, and had to be shortened, if you have this and haven't shortened it, by trimming with a hacksaw, it could inhibit the quick release mechanism from clicking into place.

Otherwise well done on your stoicism, and get that back wheel covered pdq, I used a plain sheet of aluminium, but a trailer mudguard is better and neater. Look in 'the gallery' for my pictures way back in the summer. It's the black/tan one.

I tried the wheel again and it seems like it just doesn't go on far enough. So I tried greasing it.... Now it slips on more easily but doesn't go any further, and it comes off even more easily (d'oh!).

Picture attached - for those with 3 wheelers, do your wheels go on further than this? As you can see, there is a small gap between the boss and the plastic steering column cover. Just looked at ours and tested on and off.....it might be that the studs on your bolts are projecting too far and stopping you making the final pull back that enables lock on.
If you line up the holes in the ring you can probably pull it back to enable the lock on.
On your last picture, the brozne lifeline part should go into the black plastic housing. Please get this right or somthing horrible might happen. As someone said above you should always check by pulling back.

I've just been out to the garage and check, in the second photograph the wheel isn't attached.

The collar (the part with the text on it) should be the same distance away from the steering wheel as in the first picture, so this is why it's not locking.

Try this. Put the wheel one and turn it to make sure you can turn the front wheels. Holding the wheel in place, try and slide the collar towards the steering column. I'm guessing the collar spring is okay and it goes to full extension off the column by its appearance in picture 1. I know this sound stupid but has anything got inside the tube that goes the column stopping it go on fully?
