Thanks for all the answers. My problem is compounded by light surface rusting in all the places you can't get a finger to. I made a plastic spatula and wrapped it with a bit of rag, coated it in chrome cleaner/polish and went at it with that. The electric toothbrush idea is a good one - my daughter has one - I wonder if she'll notice? hide Doesn't it go flat too soon?
I took the one I've done off because I'm doing the inside too and just wondered if there's an easier way, it seems not. I'm interested in the sealer, rather hoping this will prevent the surface rust.
Thanks

Any idea what the actual product name is please?

Surface rust is lifted by soaking in vinegar for 24-48 hours. I did this a lot for small fittings when rebuilding things on the MG.
With wires it will be harder to keep it wet for that long, but worth a try.

Instead of an electric tooth brush, Google "Sonic Scrubber" (yes really) sold in Halfords in the UK but I have never tried one.

But, if you have rust on the chrome, then the chrome has been damaged and you will face a lot of work to keep them rust free.

Having had both, the Stainless Steels wheels are much much easier to look after and I suspect, that if you wish to keep your car pristine, may be the (expensive) way forward at some stage.

Interesting idea Dave, I could put them in the bath! Seriously tho, with a spray applicator like that used for daily shower cleaner it might be a way.
Thanks

Once again watch when putting grease on the spleen use a lolly stick or something but not your finger . They cut deep and are razor sharp if you slip the wrong way. My polishing finger was out of action for a good while.

Turrino wheels are fantastic lookers, and can be coloured with a polished rim edge.

IMHO alloys are the best (weight, looks, trueness)as long as they do not get in contact with salt. So no driving on salted roads and on the beach (writing from own experience with Borranis).

Two down, two to go next weekend - and no fingers lost yet.
