Depending on ones view point; perhaps the reason for some of us being more circumspect as to what we Post on this Forum and the reason for our growing 'inactivity'..........

Good heavens Phil! Why would you think that malice could ever be a motivation in this instance?! I never alluded to malice and never thought of it. You missed the point. Let me give you a random example of one of many non-malicious, even noble motivations that can cause losses.

I saw a movie last night called Class Action with John Travolta. Have you seen it? The story line is simple. A totally cynical lawyer and his firm represents a group of health victims, infected by an illegal dumping of toxic waste where they live. After filing a class action and dancing the right dances, Travolta and his law partners (on a percentage fee arrangement) bring the case to the inevitable bargaining table and get the insurers' Offer to Settle for the amount they were looking for, which, of course, is much much (2) less than the misery their clients were suffering. (That is how these things go.)

Suddenly, at the table, something in Travolta snaps at the injustice of it all and to the horror of his partners, he irrevocably refuses the offer in his crisis of conscience. Of course, the insurance company litigates unendingly, and Travolta and his partners go bankrupt with the costs of the case. None of the poor clients collect a sou. The film ends with him trying to explain to a judge in an insolvency court how he got there.

I believe the plot's lesson is that there are a kaleidescope of noble priorities that can damage an enterprise. Actually, the forensic study, curing and/or cleaning up of that was my profession..way back when I actually worked for living.

Of course. If you have become uncomfortable with this aspect of the thread, I understand completely.

I recently 'outed' BMW over their marketing tactics on social media sites, so I can't imagine them echoing your views... grin2

My basic view is that manufacturers need to get smart about how they use forums, blogs and other social communities on the interweb. The best approach is to win over advocates who will promote your brand, rather than bombarding customers with propoganda, but that's a volte-face from the usual practice of advertising and PR.

Even more so with Morgan than other brands it's not about being 'the best', but in appealing to the individual wants of real people. What better way than to have those real people tell others how they enjoy their car?

I think this thread on marketing is mainly targeting towards Aero sales, which TBH only 500+ made to date, I doubt it would work even if Charles Morgan participate in TM, hence I still believe in this case media advertising is still the most effective way for increasing sales until such time that TM has at least a couple of thousand members...

I drew a conclusion from another topic: It is not wise to remark on my favourite car company. As it is necessary to take the financial background into consideration if you talk about marketing and I don't see things through rose-coloured spectacles I took good care not to post here. frown

On the basis that some people are uncomfortable with me expressing my views I have deleted my previous posts and will not post on this again.
