The Moggie that is. Shocked to find that this year I have done all of 990 miles with no particlar reason for doing so little. The average over the last 4 years only just breaks 2100! Hardly makes any financial sense.

I bought my car to replace a bike at SWMBOs urging. But somehow, whilst I was happy to just go out for a days ride in the Brecon Beacons, I feel I need a purpose for any journey I take in the car, any car for that matter. Odd really.

So how many miles do you do? And do you ever just " go out for a spin"?

Hello Howard

On target for 12,000 this year (which will put "Henrietta" at about 40k by August {2009 4/4 Sport}), so a higher than average total!

Just for a spin - does popping out for a loaf of bread, delivering, then returning for milk, all via back roads rather than A39 count?

Cheers

Jeremy

Varies.
The first couple of years I didn't do more than 1000 or so per year - but I was still battling with front end shimmy.
Once that was eventually sorted, I've been running 2,500 - 3,000 (except 2011 where a single week's trip was 2182 miles). 2 years ago I guess it was very close to the insurance limit of 5k - certainly well over 4k. Last year back down to 3k. Will have a week in Scotland this year (all being well), so mileage will be up again.

Cheers,

The Max has averaged 2,000 miles a year - which has been 1-2 long trips per year and then monthly use with smaller journeys (circa 30-50 mile round trips). It goes into hibernation when the salt gets sprinkled onto the roads by the council.

Jeremy - brilliant job and glad to see you're getting the full experience!

As an aside, Howard, I think you've asked a rhetorical question; you are asking about a "toy" and then say, "hardly makes any financial sense".

In my books, a toy makes zero financial sense but that is the raison d'être! thumbs

I now have just 28oooKms on my Mog in 3 years - gives me a smile every time I drive it (even does when I look at it in the garage!)I know it is an expensive "toy", but what other "toy" holds its value like a Mog -- indeed if you add the value of using it to the value it holds, it is appreciating day by day!!!!!!

I bet your investment in the Aeromax has been far safer that and investment on the stock market even allowing for the new highs. spend

Aero is just under 5000 miles this year, lower than previous years, I blame the weather and the other toy.

3 wheeler has done over 4000 from memory.

well this kept my busy since I sold the aeromax

as we all are constantly under pressure to preserve the environment, I found out I couldn't go for a drive without a reason, yes I took the 3whlr pretty often for a commute or a holiday
but just going for a drive for the sake of driving: far far less than before

one of the reasons I prefer to put time&money in my mountainbikes instead of buying another V8

Circa 7000 per year over the last 3 yrs in 3 different Morgans. Elise - 1500 miles in the three months from November. Off for a spin in an hour or so, round trip to Stratford upon Avon via Costas and the obligatory visit to the purveyors of pet supplies smile Stow on the Wold last week looking at Clearview Stoves ( anyone here got one ?)

While driving our Corsa on the M62 last week a sizeable stone (part of the roadworks no doubt!) hit the car windscreen with a loud crack though without causing damage.

It occurred to me that had we been in a M3W (or possibly even my Plus4 if it had made it just over the screen) the shrapnel would have taken out swmbo and of course it would have been my fault quiet

Had it hit a person then injury would have been sustained and goggles would not have offered much protection.

Now a motorway is not the natural habitat of a Mog but wondered if anyone had experienced this?
