No I was not aware but have witnessed this drama on several occasions and am convinced there IS Evo Stick on their tyres ! As you have found the settling into a sensible cruising mode, I thought I might, but it is yet to arrive even though I set off with good intentions. The expression "growing old is mandatory - growing up is not" seems to apply but not by invitation. Yours patiently .... Love your Retirement - style

The Moggie that is. Shocked to find that this year I have done all of 990 miles with no particlar reason for doing so little. The average over the last 4 years only just breaks 2100! Hardly makes any financial sense.
I bought my car to replace a bike at SWMBOs urging. But somehow, whilst I was happy to just go out for a days ride in the Brecon Beacons, I feel I need a purpose for any journey I take in the car, any car for that matter. Odd really.
So how many miles do you do? And do you ever just " go out for a spin"? It's the question that most multiple car owners ask themselves, and one that has certainly troubled me over the years. I've had several cars that have sat in my garage virtually unused to be sold after a couple of years at a substantial loss. I have a boat in Portsmouth that was used once last year..... a waste. However..... I'm going to really try to use the Morgan as its such a usable car. I've already put 1600 miles on it since buying it in September. I do have an 11 year old son who loves it (which helps). I'm expecting to exceed my 5k insurance limit.

I go for a "run". Don't know where I got that from. I have to say that keeping to the speed limit is not my forte. I love to hear that engine howl.

I would hope to do 6,000 miles a year...having managed 1000 since Nov in the rain / snow.
I was once hit on the head with an acorn driving a westfield ..I saw it bounce on the road and I drove into it ... it did hurt but being a 'glass half full' type of person I was just thankful it wasnt a conker in its spikey shell !!!!!

For me ownership has made financial sense. All my previous cars depreciated: our current shed is worth nothing but looks good enough to last another 100000 kilometers as long as we look after it . My first 4/4 covered 250000 miles and is still registered as being taxed at DVLA and I sold it for £5000 more than I paid for it. The next two have not been used to excess but provided daily transport to work and I think the current value of my Plus 4 is commensurate with what I paid for it but about £5000 more than when it was new.I have heard my wife tell friends that she would rather we had the Mog than not have it and that in the long term it has been cheap to run, That's a recommendation that I am happy with.

I have covered 36k miles in the last 40 months of morgan ownership, its not really a toy though. Good man. But ... I use it most days - although I have been keeping warm in my old merc for the last couple of months. ... I have been keeping warm in the Mog by putting the fan on (and keeping the roof firmly up and a scarf around my neck)
