We did have a pigeon whack the top of the screen on our Plus 4 (not on a motorway, though). If we had been a few feet further on then would have ended up wearing it as a hat!

It will be about 3000 for this the first year for me, although I have it insured for 5000 pa. And, yes, I often go out just for the pleasure of it. Amazing how and can really lift the spirits . I have heard that there really ought to be a point to going out for a spin so there is often a half-way stop for .

A group of kids in a little tin top overtook us on the Autostrada a week ago. They pulled in front of us to take some photos when I noticed what looked like splashes of water coming from under the car. We were then hit by a shower of dust, dried mud and, I assume, small stones. I pulled out from behind them and gave it some welly to get away from them.

Obviously there must have been some dried caked up mud under their mudguards that shook loose at that moment. I have not found any damage yet so perhaps we were lucky. There may be a tiny chip in the windscreen. I will know more when I get time to wash the car.

Oh! Mileage. We are up to 11,000 km in less than a year but will probably do less next year because that includes 3,500 coming back from the factory. I go for even short runs of about 20 km every time I possibly can but the main purpose was to use the car for two up touring instead of a bike.

A pigeon! Ha that's not even trying. I had a wingtip brush with an eagle whilst on a motorcycle outfit in the Northern Territory but a friend definitely takes the prize for the largest bird: he bowled over an emu on an outback road. Incredibly it was only a glancing hit and he managed to keep his bike under control. The emu went rolling along the road, got up, shook itself and ran off.

PS. I forgot the fact that I had to stop, on the same trip, to clean the engine fins of the slightly cooked remains of several budgerigars after a flock foolishly swerved the wrong way.

I have a 3,000 limited mileage policy and I'm pretty much on target to meet that in June thanks to this weather!

If the roads are dry and free of salt then I will take the Morgan out at the weekend at any opportunity, shopping, drycleaners,shoe menders, B & Q and of course pubs and restaurants.

In the summer months I like to drive it to a pub for a couple of drinks during the week, If I haven't managed to drive it for a couple of weeks then I get withdrawal symptoms but just starting it up and savouring the aroma of the interior is just enough to give me the fix I need!

For the past 8 years I have been averaging about 4,500 miles per year. A bit different from the 750 driven in two years by the previous owner.

Just renewed insurance with Gott and Wynne...mileage last year 1350.

David, just spotted your stove comment - there are three in our house and another up the lane in my mother -in-laws, and one in her house in Dublin and one in my sister -in-laws and I need a new forest.
