I have just booked my 4/4 (1.6cc & 4000 miles) in for its first year service. im told it will be having a "mid" service at a cost of around £400.I have to say its a little more than i expected to be paying, given that my 911 has a service at 20,000 miles or 2 year intrevals (which ever comes first) and costs about the same. which makes a 911 cheeper to service in reallity. if thats the cost, well, thats the cost. but i thought i would ask you good people if this is the right price or am i about to have my pants pulled down.

Havent had my 1st service yet - but this will be "Henrietta"s fourth (being a 2009 4/4 Sport). Williams Morgan, who I bought it from said a) the 38,000 mile (!) service would not be a biggie and b) it would be "about £400".

A previous service cost £600 (prev owner) but he had a few bits added.

I will be VERY interested in a) how much your service actually costs and b) what items are looked at. Would be grateful if you are prepared to divulge these (PM me if you prefer?)

IMHO with modern day engines and good quality oils Servicing is over scheduled, the Max is supposed to get Serviced every year, mine will be getting it every 2 and I think that's good enough with a look over at each MOT.

BMW recommend every 20 k for there engine

For a steer on costings please find my 1st service on 2009 4/4 Sport with warranty issues as outlined at header. These did not appear in financial terms on this invoice however - being directly charged back to MMC is my understanding of how it works.



There are no further service invoices as in my previous career I was Principal Engineer Electronics/Mechanical and enjoy the satisfaction of completing my own.

Parts being supplied willingly by Berrybrook when needed (Morgan specific). Incidentally the Carparo 4Pot Calipers take the Austin Princess Pads, which I find mildly amusing and typically Morgan.
I have no intention of selling this car so am not interested at all in resale values whatsoever, thus continuity of a stamped Service book is irrelevant to me. (Cost of car amortised over 10yrs is nothing to pay for the pleasure these special machines deliver to you when used as intended whatever your model).
My Son and Daughters will be secure in the knowledge that Father did it.
Back on Service costs the date as seen so I leave you to decide whether you are being "trousered".

An almost identical service and cost I had last year by Mike Duncan. Like you, I intend to keep the car for many years and the issue re stamping doesn't concern me. At the moment I'll continue to have the car serviced by a dealer for major services but will do minor servicing myself.

most of the services i have had over the last 3.5 years (almost 40k miles) have been somewhere between 200 and 500 - none have been at a morgan dealer, as for 2 of those years I lived nearer Tudors than any dealer.

But my car being older typically needed something done in addition to service (or upgrade), the biggest bill being just over 1k for an engine out job

I've always done mine myself - that way I know what's been done and there's only me to blame.

I agree - I started off thinking I would be like Jays - minor stuff, but as I get in to my car I am doing more and more myself. SOme stuff will always be outside of my capability but most stuff can be researched and carried out (often with help on here).

That said mine is an older car. I doubt I could do the same with a newer one....

I, however, am a mechanical idiot with no facilities bar a roof over Henrietta's head, so am content for Williams to look after her. Whilst I would rather not pay £400 a time, I can remember my Suzuki Swift 1.6 saloon (the most beautiful meatallic red I have ever seen ) cost me £325 or so a time to service in 1990-92 and that was every 6 000 miles - which took 8 weeks to rack up back in those days .

I remain in awe of you guys who know what your doing!
