Now that the weather has settled a bit up here, I took LB out of the Carcoon this afternoon to find it covered in mildew on the inside - hood, seat belts, carpets even on the steering wheel! Can anyone recommend a good treatment to get rid?

From inside a Carcoon? That's not good at all.....
Depending how bad it is, I would suggest Neatsfoot Oil and then saddle soap for the leather. Both from Amazon.
I have so many chums with Carcoons, I'm really quite suprised.

I'm pretty disappointed with the Carcoon myself, but it's the outdoor model, and there's a lot of trees around my parking area...what I think I need is a dehumidifier to go inside as well...

I assume the Carcoon has a fan arrangement? I'm not familiar with the outdoor models.....
I would imagine the leather will come back, Neatsfoot oil is excellent, but you'll need advice on the seat belt material and hood. Is the hood mohair? My guess is trying to get it super dry and then brushing it. But I'm not totally sure.

I had the same issue with a 20-year old 911; opened the door and the inside looked like a yoghurt pot. Revolting and I actually wore a face mask whilst cleaning the car. Perhaps I shouldn't have but I chose to use white vinegar; it certainly worked and more importantly, the mildew did not come back. I also bought some of these to store in the car: http://pingi.com/index.php/en/welcomeI bought mine from an eBay seller. They collect water and you can tell when they are full because the indicator changes colour on the bag. Once this happens, you pop them into the microwave and they are good to use all over again.

Bought a carcoon last year and had loads of mould / mildew inside the car. Not pleased. Didn't keep car dry - seemed to keep it wet! Haven't bothered with it this winter!

I agree. I use an Airflow chamber, similar to carcoon. And it doesn't work! If its wet or foggy outside, the fan drags in this damp air and dumps it onto the cold metal. I've even had pools of water. Might as well leave the car outside! Nowadays I switch the fans off if weather inclement and switch them on if its dry and fine - just to stir the air in the chamber to try to avoid the mildrew problem. That seems to work.

I can remember when Carcoons first came out, many moons ago. I tried to fathom the science, but apart from filtering the air and transferring moisture from inside the envelope to outside the envelope I couldn't see the benefit. When contained in a garage the moisture will remain in the garage until the doors open, or there is a dehumidifier. So I went for just a dehumidifier. And given the faff of getting the car in and out I still think it was the right choice for me. Up to now I've never heard a bad word about these chambers, but obviously kept outside there is a ventilation/temperature difference problem.
On my Golf - kept uncovered and outside, where there is a sudden fall in temperature in the evening, the windscreen (which faces North) mists over on the inside with significant wetness. No other glass is affected. Despite various ploys, this is a feature over winter and I guess if left for long periods might cause mildew. I keep a passive dehumidifier in the Golf - blue crystals when dry, clear when wet, and this works really well.

Very interesting.....
The Carcoons that chums have are all inside wooden barns.
My garage has a dehumidifier going 24/7 (plumbed to the outside) and my cars all stay dry without mildew. But I'm lucky to have a wooden barn - its definitely drier than concrete garages I've had in the past.

I hang a small "rechargeable" dehumidifier from the steering wheel and leave either the hood or tonneau in place. This draws the moisture out from the enclosed space. seems to work ok. The dehumidifiers are plugged in to re-dry the silica gel inside - watch for colour changes back from brown to blue for fully dried out. They are small and compact - about 6" x 5" and come with a hook. I have seen a "pillow" type sack that you dry back in the oven and then place inside the car, but will stick to my electric ones. The make is Wireless Mini Dehumidifier Can't remember where actually bought from but importer (they are made in Taiwan) is Clifford James Gladden Place West Gillibrands Skelmersdale.WN8 9SX Tel 08708881008 They come with a short mains lead. THe first heating session takes a while longer but after that its pretty short. When I get a chance http://www.clifford-james.co.uk/online.c...ier/68/no/67386
