My new Roadster had been left out for a few days and there's rust all over it. Including the new 'option' round mirrors. I've been gradually cleaning if off with a lot of elbow grease.
The hardest thing, although not rusty, is the alloy fuel cap which has become very marked.
Alloy cap will polish up nicely with solvol autosol, all chrome, ie mirrors, door handles, headlamp bezels etc need to be vaselined before they come in contact with road salt
Thanks - going to give the Phoenix ones a try - sounds worrying about the rust, isn't there a product that coats chrome to protect it ?
In the age of nano technology, surely Vaseline can't be the best solution.

Clipper, I recommend John Taylor (Phoenix Design) mirrors. The clamping collar, with 3 screws, has a slot in it, so you have a very wide range of adjustment. Not all the other round options have this feature. Gerry.
I am interested in buying a set of these mirrors. I have written to John and he tells me that they are slightly convex and give a much better vision. He can, however, supply flat to order. I am a little concerned about the effect on apparent distance of convex mirrors and I would be interested in hearing your opinion after you have tried them.

David, FYI - I have also fitted the John Taylor (Phoenix Design) mirrors. Like Neil, I have the spindles set lower down in the holders with just an inch or so of the spindle showing above the black plastic seal. They adjust fine to give me a view just over the rear wheel arches, with a good field of view.

No need to be concerned. Most modern car mirrors are convex - this gives a greater field of view, and things do seem further away. This is very important in the case of the passenger side mirror (right mirror in your case) as a flat mirror has a very poor field of view. The convex mirrors greatly improve visibility to the rear, and are more easily adjusted.
I have round covex mirrors on my 4/4 and find them excellent.
