Sitting in bed this morning, sun streaming though the window, with the first cup of tea of the day and all well with the world joy , the Lady of the House and I were discussing the TV series “Monty Don’s French Gardens”. She was talking about the gardens, but I was more interested in the 2CV Monty was driving. I always wanted one of those (specifically the maroon/black model with the chrome headlights). I reminded her of the test drive we had many years ago, but which didn’t end with an order. “Well”, she said. “it all turned out OK because the Morgan is a bit like the 2CV, isn’t it?” ooo

At first I thought I’d better not go public with that story hide , but it has been amusing me all day so I thought you might like to share it. Polite responses only, please; she will be reading them…

My mapreader also has a thing about the 2CV but she likes the Dolly. I have made sure she saw the TG item when a 2CV was driven behind a jet engine on full thrust, quite scary!! The resultant pile of bits would probably have fitted in the Moggie's glove box.
She is now on about an Audi R8 Spyder, now that's a real car!

Here for a good time not a long time!!

More quirky that the 2cv, but based on it, is the Citroen Mehari.
I could just see a lime green version on the driveway grin2

I have often thought there is a similarity between my morgan and the 2cv we had a few years ago - apart from the red and black colour scheme.

I think that it stems from the assault on the senses that is enjoyed on even the shortest trip, and that the sense of achievement in reaching your destination.

Also the way the doors peel away from the car as speed and let water in has a resonance too....

I wish I still had it - I sold it for £700 10 years ago, they fetch pretty stong money these days

My last time in a 2CV was as a passenger.
Great fun - especially on roundabouts with that soft suspension. It was like lying on my side!
Driver was not holding back either.

Yeah, you have to be committed, they have more grip than power!

When we had ours we also had a 150bhp hot hatch. We lived in suffolk at the time and one of my commute routes included a 12 or so mile stretch of B road. I could cover the route in the 2cv in the same time as the hot hatch, and tbh it was more fun in the tinsnail
