Hello, everyone.
New to the group, but not new to Morgans. I have a 1963 4/4 ser.V 2str. ser. # B876, and haven't had the car very long....only 45 yrs. Bought it used in 1968. Also a member of Morgan Owners group Northwest. (MOGNW)
I retired from 42 years in the auto repair trade in 2008, the last 25 yrs. with Honda.
I served my apprenticeship with the Western Canada Morgan distributor in the Vancouver area, Sterne Motors, where I learned to become a mechanic, wood, sheet metal and upholstery worker. I also worked for British Leyland in the late 70's.
Sterne Motors was one of 4 dealers in N. America at the time, Windsor,Ontario, New York and San Francisco were the others.
We were the distributor for B.C., Alberta, Washington State, Oregon, Idaho and Northern California, a lot of territory considering that in a good year we might receive up to 7 or 8 Morgans!
In 1970, I upgraded the car to 1600 specs, and raced, slalomed and hillclimbed with great success in the Pacific Northwest, Westwood, Seattle, Portland, Spokane etc.(there is a photo of it in Ken Hill's Morgan 4 wheeler) Around 1972 I acquired a 1934 S/Sport trike, Matchless MX4 Barrel back for which I traded my MG TD straight across. I sold that a few years later, because I needed the money, and have kicked myself for doing it ever since!
Poor old 4/4 doesn't get used much these days, the annual Vancouver to Whistler British car run, just sitting is not very kind to the car and it's starting to show it's age...it is 50 this year, after all. After retiring, pretty well all interest in cars has faded. won't even change the oil on my Honda!
Around 1979-80 I hopped up the engine,711M block, .040 over (or more, don't remember), 1300 GT pistons, removed the shallow chamber from the head, big valves, lumpy cam, twin 40's, limited slip diff etc, all the period go fast stuff. Still goes after all these years.
I just came across this website, and have a lots of interesting reading. Maybe it'll inspire me to tidy up the old girl! Also had the honor to meet Peter Morgan when he came to Vancouver in the early 70's
(born in the UK, came to Canada in 1954)
Cheers, Dave.
1963 4/4 SER.V. B876 Owned since 1968 -1965 Anglia 124E- sold.

Hello Dave, Welcome to TM. Hope you take your MOG to the road again. They need it! You have all the skils, so it will not be a problem. Cheers, Ken in Sweden

Welcome Dave. You know we expect don't you. I'm sure you have a few pics of the car in competition events too. It would be interesting to see them. If you have any trouble working out how to post pictures you only need to ask. There is a guide here.
