I think it's a good package - it's responsible too. Much as we'd all like to go out and stick 450bhp in an S1 chassis, with the standard brakes, suspension etc it's not going to be that manageable.

If you're going to put 400+bhp in an S1 (and I intend to when I fing the money down the back of my sofa) then I think it's worth some serious brake upgrades and suspension work, such that the total package would probably come out nearer 15k+

I'd like to see some more weight reduction options from someone / the factory..

Carbon doors?
Carbon wingmirrors?
Lightweight seats in carbon?

Sorry, I've mis-read my bathroom scales, each std sidebox weighed about 11-12kg, the sport sidepipes is less than half it size and I could pick it up with little finger, I guess its at least half the weight!
Its still a substantial weight saving of 12-13 kgs woohoo

Rich, I'd say suspension and brakes would be a must-have if you put the Aero power to over 400bhp!

I must say, I'm always happier when 'tuners' promise to dyno a car pre and post ECU upgrade; however, I'd also want to see the rolling road calibration to ensure it was running true

22bhp increase on a NA engine is a good gain; although, at £1,170, it's pricey for a remap.

John Thorne of Thorney Motorsport is well versed in BMW V8s and has a dyno on site. He has always said he'd be happy for us to have a dyno/tune day there with the Morgans if people wanted.

Knowing him and his reputation from my BMW days, I'd be happy to take my Aero 8 to him.

DMS (Tuned the keuith Ahlers Aero I think?) - again offer around 20-30bhp - dyno before and after for around £1000.

They all sound in the same kind of ballpark. Given that the sports exhaust delivers a 10bhp gain + a lot more noise, are you going to see another 20+bhp fro the remapping - or just 10?

Carbon Parts at sensible prices:
http://www.carboncerbie.com/
more expensive but quality
http://www.reverie.ltd.uk/

Either would be able to supply custom or pattern parts. Just depends on budget.

I think a road sports based Aero could take the increase on standard units.. (+ possibly the anti-roll bar) more importantly a decent pad material and tyre combo would be more appropriate.

As for the suspension.. I suspect these will be Ohlins with Bilstein springs so you're probably looking at £3-4k for the kit + fitting (which AFAIK requires engine removal for the fronts) so would have thought total bill inc. fitting will be in the ball park of £4-5k depending on kit price.

I had Ohlins fitted to my Cerb and they really transform the handling, but a lot of Cerb guys are running well over 400bhp on units equivalent to the stock Aero units..... I would get the most from what you have before you start strapping £5k's worth of suspension to the car.... obviously for track stars... this would be a good investment due to a higher duty cycle...

Thansk for the carbon links - some interesting stuff there.

Key points to save weight - add to this list if you can think of any!

1. Seats - not sure what the standard items weigh, but it's a lot. Carbon seats come in at around about 3-4kg each, plus a few brackets to mount. Figure you coudl save 10kg per chair perhaps.

2. Hood - surely the metal poles in the hood could be replaced with carbon ones, similar strength, but less weight.

3. Wiring Loom.. the S1 has a full X5 loom and Kg's (~20kg's AFAIK) can be saved by taking out the un-necessary components.

4. The exhaust silencers as previous stated are really heavy for some reason.

5. Swap of the bonnet for a single carbon piece - 5kg's ?

6. Swap of the boot for a single carbon piece - 3kg's?

7. Glass swap for polycarbonate in CF single piece mould doors. - 10kg per door??

A few places there.....
