Are many of you watching the Long Way Down on the BBC with Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman?

I found it started slowly (the first 3 episodes); however, it has really picked up since they dropped down into Ethiopia.

Anyone else watching it? Opinions?

Yes it is getting better.

As someone who lived & biked in Kenya in 1994-95 it was good to that once they hit Kenya the roads lost the asphalt & went native. I owned then a Motto Guzzi Le Mans mk III with full race fairing, that was in storage back in Europe so I bought & used an India Royal Enfield. It wasn't the strangled EU variant but had the full bore exhaust , no air filter & 6 v electrics. It had no problem with ruts, nor did the shocks fail every 5 mins!

I have also biked across Morrocco Algeria & Tunisia in the late 70s on a Honda Four Hundred Four and worked in S Africa so I am enjoying it.

However they are very lucky to have such a support system at our expense

Yes I agree, its definitely getting better, especially when they were riding across the plain and Charley said there was a chance a lioness could be stalking them from behind shocked2

John, a few years ago, I nearly bought a brand new Royal Enfield but decided on KTM instead...

John, this has actually amazed me!

I thought the BMW GS was a real endurance bike; however, the rate at which they are replacing shocks can't be great PR for BMW? tumbleweed

No, both Ewan (and I believe Charlie) have lost shocks. And, if it wasn't Charlie's bike, it was Claudio's that lost a shock before. They have gone through at least 3 so far, if not 4! doh

I must have missed part of it, I thought it was only twice it happened, both times were on the camera bike..

BTW, is it your Charlie or my Charley? Charley was on the banner in front of that farmer's gate....

The only reason BMW allowed you the viewer to see this was that they were Ohlins.... a 3rd party add on. Although later on I believe some OEM shocks also packed up.... Great program though.
