I require advise. When I corner hard in my 4/4 I can hear a noise from the rear, sounds like the tyres could be in contact with the body, however cannot find any evidence of this. could this be lateral movement of the rear axle?. Would a panhard rod fix this, or perhaps I should just drive slower!

Could be your exhaust touching your rear tyre it did on mine take the tyre off and look for burnt rubber on the exhaust .

Used to happen on my first 4/4 until I realigned the exhaust pipe.

I agree the exhaust can catch the tyre.

If the car is a two seater, very easy to check for the axle hitting the woodwork. Lift the floor behind the seats and look! You'll see rough wood on the rear panel the propshaft goes through.
Quite common for the woodwork the propshaft tunnel screws into to be a bit oversized. Very early on in the ownership of Woodstock, I had this, and it was worse if there was a passenger. A bit of filing of the wood cured nearly all of it, but I'd still recommend a panhard rod as a car so equipped is much nicer to drive.

Thanks Martyn, It is a 2 seater, I have checked the exhaust system and it is well clear and marks, so I will follow your suggestion, and yes the noise is more common when I have a passenger.

You may want to check you don't have the dreaded Morgan "lean". It was an issue on my 2011 4/4 and a number of others both here and overeseas.

Martyn my car has a aluminium drive shaft cover, which bye the way is not positioned central to the drive shaft and there is some minor evidence of contact!
also noticed the rear brake lines have contacted the diff. And also the plywood on the inner wheel arches. but not convinced this the problem.

I'm surprised that the prop shaft is catching the alloy tunnel. The tunnel is not central as the prop shaft is offset at the rear to the right.
Like Martyn I would recommend a Panhard rod if you like to corner enthusiastically!
Good luck in the noise search.....can be frustrating tracking down.
