Hey. I have a 2007 model Morgan 4/4 with CHBB Ford and Ford Electronics. Does anyone know if there is a minimum limit of the battery if the starter should be able to plug into. The battery had low voltage the other day when I was driving the first trip this year. However, it started and I was hoping the battery should be charged in these 30 minutes. With full lights and heater on I think it did not charged enough. When I tried to start this morning I had light in warning lamps, manometers worked well and I had also light in the headlamps, but the starter would not operate. The manometer sayd 11 volts in battery. Does anyone have a good advice for me? Is it a lowest limit og voltage

11 volts with a lead acid battery is effectively flat. If you only run your car for 30 minutes after managing to start with a fairly low battery you will most certainly not fully charge it. Indeed with headlights and other equipment working and if the engine isnt turning over that fast, you might not charge it at all.

Best course of action is to take the battery off the car and use a battery charger overnight or longer to re-charge it.

I suspected this. So I put the battery on charge tonight in the hope that everything would be ok tomorrow. Your response makes me sleep this night. These modern batteries are not quite what same as batteries was in the 70´-s. I will come to morrow night with the results.

Where is the battery located on your 4/4?
At the back of the car, or under the bonnet?

The reason I ask, is that on my 2003 4/4 the battery is under the bonnet. It is small, s DMS Red 750. If yours is the same, they only have a 28 aH capacity.
I have an Optimate charger mounted in the garage and connect it to the car once a week when the car is not being used.

Me too. It's at least trebled the battery life since I started using one.

If you continue to have problems then check the condition of the negative lead from the battery and in particular, how clean is the connection to the chassis or engine block of the car. Its easy to get bad connections with high resistance and which take the voltage below the level at which the started will operate.

At the risk of depressing you, a battery which has stood for some time whilst heavily discharged or almost flat could well be damaged and have only limited capacity left.

First thing to day. I tried to start my MOG and succesed. 12 hours charging battery and things seems to be ok. And it is still under charge. So next step will be to follow your advise. My battery Is placed back in the car, in front of the rear axel. It should be possible to place the charger under bonnet over the drivers legs and then connect it to the starter. Karl. I think you will find most of us with recent models use a small charger called a battery conditioner and that is plugged into the cigarette lighter that is situated under the dash. An adaptor is used. In the recent Morgans this remains connected to the battery even when the key is removed. It is easy to run the lead out over the top of the sidescreen and then lock the door if you feel it is necessary.

There are plenty on the market and everyone has there own recomendation. The cost very little.

Note the optional cigarette lighter lead. I have not used this particular unit and I therefore can not make any recommendation for or against. I am just putting it up as one example of many available.

The unit I bought like this came with interchangeable cable ends. One for the cigarette lighter/iPhone charger and the other for the battery terminals. You fit them under the lock bolts. I just used to lift the engine cover and plug it in.
