"they build it like they did in the 1930s, so I might get 1930s unreliability for 2010s prices"
There were no electronics in those days....so your doors would open and close ok and be locked with a key! but the key would snap, then you would drill it out or replace the lockWindows would be wound up and down with a lovely manual winder...usually quicker than an electric one. Then one day at the traffic light pouring down with rain, you would start winding and the handle would come off in your hand, the retaining clip would fly off under the seat never to be found, so off to the scrap yard for a replacement. around 1976-77 Renault brought out a flagship 3.0 V6, initial thoughts were WHAT A MOTOR, front wheel drive, lots of power, comfort and electrics, a family friend couldnt wait to show us his new toy, but 2-3 weeks down the road oh dear oh dear oh dear, he started to bring the car in and asking advise, windows not working, going up and down of there own accord, warning lights coming on etc etc, all sorted by the Renault Dealer under warranty. After approx 6 months the car developed a misfire, the dealer retuned the car twice, then eventually replaced the Carburetor, to no avail. He yet again returned seeking more advise my father checked over the car and informed him the Valve Timing was out. On returning to the dealer they suggested that was impossible for a new car and it had double timng chains so no way. By this time the new warrenty expired so the dealer had, had enough of customer and car, he brought the car to us for further inspection. We stripped down the front Timing cover which was a days job in itself, "no information was available or tech support, with cam covers removed we marked out what should of been TDC on both sides to find the right Bank chain had slipt approx 3 teeth, new wheels and chains ordered and fitted, that car went like a rocket and was enjoyed by its owner until part/xd Renault are Mass company, but even they can't build a bespoke car tht works first time. Don't let it put you off the car yet. Hopefully these faults will be sorted out for you and allow you to enjoy the car...from your previous posting you obviously felt that the car was pretty special and made you feel good. Hang on to those feelings! [/quote]

I hope you get all the gremlins sorted very soon. I have never spent anything close to that money on a car, so can't imagine how you must feel. Bud _________ 2003 - 4/4 That reminds me; I need to get my door handles fixed. . . Oh! hang on a minute, my car doesn't have door handles.

My Ferrari cost the previous owner £230,000. Every time it goes for a service it has warranty work carried out. All Scuderia's are reknowned for certain known faults that take a while to be sorted. Once sorted, eventually, they are great cars!
Frustrating but not atypical.
Cheers

Love the aero so much that I could not sell it. Its laid up at the moment primarly due to the much higher cost of the plus 8 insurance. I have had a few fast plus 8s since 1980 and loved them all. This plus 8 is the best Morgan I have driven yet, I regard it like having a traditional road legal Group A racer. Down side is no luggage capacity at all.

Phil's been able to sort it out. That guy's very brilliant as a mechanic and dedicated to getting things right. Great drive, the car. Some of the problematic things seem to be because it's new, specifically the door button that wouldn't push and the lock, which was apparently in need of lubrication. I know one of the members here had a 3 Wheeler that wouldn't start. Maybe the factory is taking on too many things at the moment, too? I know that Sukhathai's Aero Coupe leaks, so at least I'm not alone. And the drives out have been great. I got petrol on the way back, and an Aussie was impressed at the station.

Love the spirit Deano, the Aero is a great car but it looks like I've just sold mine! Haven't got the money yet, so it's not a done deal... Enjoy the Plus 8, I do like the look of them and they are great to drive. Cheers Brian

I would love to own a Plus 8 but the cost of ownership would be prohibitive in Italy. If it makes you feel any better about the insurance cost I just forked out over €1,850 for full insurance on the Plus 4

Peter, that Insurance cost is horrendous - I thought we were ripped off here in Ireland, but that puts a different flavour to it!!!
