I guess probably many here would like more background (I would be curious) so I'll share.
In short, the scam concept is: scammers advertises a car for sale, when someone shows interest they claim to have moved to a different country because of job, describes the car and sends pictures, suggest to use a auto transporter company that also functions as an escrow since this will be safe for the buyer. But the scammers are also behind the made up transport company.
The company that was suggested to me was:
http://www.wxc-express.com/ (THIS IS A SCAM SITE) As you can see it is a convincing website.
I'm gonna leave some key information like name, email addresses and links so that if anyone else searches about the same email addresses or names they might find this post.
I got a tip about Morgan on a Swedish vintage car advert site. This advert (now marked as inactive):

The name of the seller is Oliver Strom (most likely not real). Any attempt to lookup name or phone number in Sweden or UK does not give any results. When I contacted him using the first advert he responded after a week. He responded from email address oliver.strohm@hotmail.com, but was actually sent from gmail using classicfan21@gmail.com
He responded first time with being sorry because he had moved to York because of a new job. He wrote some more details, attached several photos and suggested to ship it or I could come and see it.
Yes - the price vs condition of car was too good to be true

here if anyone here where close to York and could have a look at the car.
I responded with interest, asked a few questions, suggested that I might want to try a fly over and have look this first weekend, but at the same time asked if he knew of a good way to ship it.
He responded that he would suggest using WXC Express. It was easy and secure. He would drop of the car at their drop point, I would pay the company, they would ship it to me. I then would have 3 days to accept or decline. If I accepted then the seller would get the money. It does sound like a great concept in itself - and at first it got me to relax my worry about the price being so low (my expectation was the the car probably was in worse shape). Luckily I thought about trusting the transport company - since I would give them money.
Thats why I asked here - and started some research myself.
This is what i discovered about the website

- The domain name wxc-express.com was registered less than a month ago, and is owned by Sebastian Vater (sebastian.vater@hotmail.com). Contact information is also available, but I'm sure its false.
- A search on Internet using the email address gives this page where someone has information about this email address being owner of another domain being used for scam: http://db.aa419.org/fakebanksview.php?key=75552
- A search on the name leads to another page with warnings about several domains beeing fake: http://fraud.forumandco.com/t11304-wgb-expresscom-this-is-scam-this-is-fraud-don-t-send-money
- Looking up the internet address of the web server the fake company uses reveals that the server is located in Malaysia at a web hosting company.
After discovering this, I wrote back to seller telling him I had not heard about WXC Express before, and asked him if he had any experience with them, and also that I believed that it might be cheaper for me to travel and fetch the car myself, and therefore asked where he was located.
He responded that he had used the company before (for me this confirms the seller is part of the scam), again described how easy it was to use the company. He also at the end added the address if I wanted to come myself. It's a real address in York, but I'm sure he is not there so I will not share here since most likely innocent people live there. I will not travel and have a look - I'm sure I will not find anyone to meet there - or worse, get mugged.
I ended it by writing back that I had discovered that the transport company was fake, and that he must have known. If I get some creative explanation back I'll share here
I wish I could report this someplace - and have the scammers arrested. But honestly I'm convinced police does not have enough resources for this - and it's not possible to even know what country the scammers are in.
Ohh well... at least I did not loose any money. Back to surfing Morgan adverts...
