Having watched fifth gear early this week Jason Plato test drove the +8, Unfortunatly he didn't give it a very good review.....too much under steer ,poor build quality, stereo more like Heath Robinson ,pedal outlay not great, resulting in saying that the car doesn't belong on the 21st century....only good point was the engine.

I suspect that Jason Plato is not the right person to test drive the Plus8......he's going to try to treat it as a racing car!

I agree, lots of thoughts went through my mind.

He's not going to like it.
It's not really his style.
Whats going to snap off.

The problem with the hood and parts snapping off are a real example of the issues Morgan face sadly.

Given the previous positive experience of the M3W I was hoping some of the loony element would have been ingrained and they would have enjoyed it more than that. He did not seem to find any of the good points of the car but then given the entire thing was conducted on a track it was never going to be any any different.

Just not that representative in my opinion.

Two sides of the same coin.
(not meant to be a rude comment to you Mike, I generally agree with your point)

Yes we know that the company has to do things on limited resources.
Yes it could benefit from a lot of things but at the end of the day it is what it is.

I hope all people buying one of the Aero range realise that they need to adapt a little to the car and that it is not a Porsche. You will need to fettle it. You will need to allow for time off the road. You will need to assume it is not developed to the same level as a Porsche XXX.

It is not really a car designed to take on the track straight out of the factory as I see it. When I drove the 4.8 Auto Coupe recently and compared it to my Aero S2 it was a significantly different car with lots of development. The autobox and GT style was a really excellent experience.

However you feel wonderful. You see people around you smiling all the time, it lifts the day a notch. It stands out as a personal choice you are proud of, however mad it may be.

I think most of us agree that stomaching this at £80k+ is the personal moment that you need to overcome prior to making that decision. If it was 50-60 it would be a no brainer. But then it would be a very different car.

Thats what the next one needs to be.

Plato's a great driver, but he's a bit of dick.

It's a funny review and he's right about some stuff - but a Morgan isn't really a car for the successful Xerox salesman to show off at the golf club.

The only thing that seemed to break on the car was the Tenax fastener on the hood! The way he yanked it off he obviously didn't know how to unclip it...no wonder it broke. The car he tested, MMC11 was an early development car I think so some issues like steering input, understeer etc may well have been sorted in later cars.

I'm not sure you could call it hastily built though...around 15 days (?) compared to the M3W 3 days.

Comparing it to the Jag though...both are too expensive for what they are!

I think Plato has been trying to model his presentation "skills" on Clarkson!
