New to the forum and would like to say hello for a starter so HELLO.
ive been looking at the aeromax for a couple of months now and was wondering what your thaughts are on this car be a future investment, prices seem to be holding firm at the minute but will they take a bit of a nosedive in the coming years. I know to some people who can afford these cars it maybe doesnt matter but i'd be selling my classic to get one so wouldnt want to sell a good investment if it will loose money.

also is there a list anywhere of the 100 cars in the colours and destination they went to.

this is why i'm thinking of selling my classic as it doesnt get used much, maybe 200miles per year, i thaught about buying a newer car like a 911 GT3RS and another cheaper classic but the aeromax seems to be that all in one package. I know the 2007 model GT3RS in the orange or green will hold their value and i think will even increase in value over time. Wanted something more useable although not a daily driver.

You may be buying it for the wrong reason . Think long and hard. If you get what you paid for it after a few years what have you lost , and in return gained a group of nutter's , opp's sorry I mean mog owners as friends cant put a cost on that.

The classics that are appreciating are things like Daytonas and DB4's - and that could change, although unlikely. However the Morgan will have a good residual value, and as cash is effectively negative, it would be more fun than having cash in the bank.

The Morgan is such a different car to the 911. Ensure you've fully managed expectations before taking the plunge.

I am completely biased on this (of course being an ower who is planning to sell) but I'll give some thoughts for starters.

It's a modern classic, and with limited produced (102 made and less than 20 in the UK in total it is always going to hold it's money pretty well.

I think like all cars the depreciation curve at the start is always likely to be the worst time, and as we have seen since they were released in 2008 the prices have stayed pretty stable. Dropping around 15% ans staying there, with most UK cars coming on the market priced between 90 and 100k depending on colour and condition.

My tumblr account has just about every picture of every Aeromax ever produced and photographed on it, and from that I've been able to deduce that around 10-15 went to the US, 25 were sold in the UK or so. Collectors in ASia and Europe picked up the rest.

There is one example I know of in Australia (Richard Hammonds car went there last year).

LHD cars in Europe come up occasionally and seem to trade at original list in the region of 130k Euros.

A good number of the UK owners post here, and this is probably the best resource on the web for information on the Aeromax.

The only reason I am planning to sell mine is that I've got a growing young family, and I'm just not getting to use it that often as I need 4 seats everywhere I go these days.

Money and garage space no object I wouldn't be considering letting it go. As a car to be able to use regularly but feel incredibly special at the same time I don't think there is anything out there to touch it.

I support Mr Tonys comments and he has a lot of experience in living the dream as do many on this forum.

It feels as special as a classic from the publics reaction.
It is more beautiful than most classics IMHO
It is a lot more reliable (cannot believe I said that) and parts are easily obtained
It is actually a massive amount better to drive than most, you could use it for a pan-EU jaunt which I would never do in most classics.

I look at the AeroMax as largely retaining their value unless you do a high milage or fail to maintain it correctly.

Until the Coupe came along the Max were maintaining a £110k price but the offer from Morgan of the Coupe at £100k new hurt this. This is a market issue for Morgan and to me repesents the biggest risk to your money moving forwards.

Outside of that you get a ready made bunch of friends and lunatics to support you, one of the prettiest cars on the planet and a driving experience that will stretch a grin from ear to ear.

If assume you will still need to fettle and tweak it like a classic and you will get on just fine. I guess that is part of the fun of running a classic as well.

Drive one. I doubt you will have a problem making up your mind afterwards.

One thing I'd add is that if you've got a properly sorted car then there should be very limited tweaking required. Mine has done a few thousand a year and requires nothing at all beyond an annual service.

The cars themselves are basically bulletproof in terms of all the major oily bits.

Main concern is usually buying a car like this will only 1000 miles or so on the clock, as a several year old car with very limited miles is likely to have sat around without use and that is when they cause owners trouble.

In terms of value vs the coupe / supersports, it's clear that supersports have depreciated more heavily than Aeromaxes - and are now trading a slightly lower prices despite being newer in many cases. I think that makes a strong case for the Aeromax to continue to maintain it's price point for the future..

Mileage within reason shouldn't make much of a difference. Sure if you start putting 20k a year on an Aeromax it will have an impact, but buyers are generally going to look on a 5 year old car (as many of them are coming up to that time) as something to be bought on condition and provenance rather than just the clock number..

Very pretty car 356, good luck with the sale. You won't go far wrong with Rich's (Mr Tony's) AeroMax, it's been very well-fettled and spoilt! I know that as a former owner...
