A 'trapper' style hat is something I need to purchase before Nordkapp. Other than the Barbour one, does anyone have any recommendations - waterproof would be ideal?

I'll try a Lock... I've never owned one and am regularly in their neighbourhood. Good tip.

Don't know what the problem is with a flat cap. I wear a Burberry wool flat cap in winter. If it is pulled well down it stays on at any speed allowed by my automatic speed control In summer I have a lightweight drivers cap made by Borsalino. The side panels are a lightweight perforated leather. I really goes well with the Morgan. Only problem is that being lightweight the top flaps a little at high speed. I would not mind a Aviation Leathercraft woolly flying helmet for the really cold weather but we do have two Morgan leather flying helmets.

I don't know if it's anything to do with height - but being moderately tall I find flat caps just blow off in the Morgan.

I'm 6 ft but I must admit it is all in the legs however I find baseball caps blow off. In any case I can't abide baseball caps: they are not part of my DNA

I can recommend this one having spent many winter topless miles in it and it's adaptable. Saddle soap ensures it's waterproof. Currently reduced to £40 from £80 allegedly. No connections other than satisfied customer. Did the run over from Cambridge to South Devon in January topless in it and felt nice and cosy with no risk of it becoming airborne. http://www.lakelandleather.co.uk/Lakeland_Newton_Mens_Sheepskin_Cap_in_Brown

In any case I can't abide baseball caps: they are not part of my DNA I'm taller although I seem to have shrunk recently. I went to the doctor for a routine thing and he measured me at 6'2" and I'd been 6'3" for years. What happened? At this rate I won't be able to reach the pedals in a couple of years. I'm not a fan of baseball caps either really - so will try the deeper flat cap idea.

A peaked duck-down lined hat with ear flaps from good old M&S is my preferred winter wear AND it stays firmly planted on my head even at speed. The peak is very useful when the sun is low as I don't have sun visors. During the summer it's a baseball cap. Anyone know where I can get one with the peak at the back to keep the sun off my neck?
