I settled on 22 front, 23 rear with a 1972 4/4, but really I'd suggest a bit of experimenting. Not as if you'll wear the tyres out with 18/19/20/21/22/23/24.

I think you'll find 18 too soft, and 22/23 about right.

Hi
I had a 4/4 4seater which ran on 18psi, any harder & there was a danger of throwing the kids out of the back seat, I now run a +8 at 22 psi - as stated in the handbook , after reading the various comments I thought I would experiment so I tried 24psi this resulted in a hard ride which had the car bouncing all over the place.

So the conclusion I have drawn is, stick to what the Morgan engineers tell you! & as the book states if you are going to do some competition stuff contact the factory & they will advise you accordingly .
Cheers
Alan

Alan - yes, you are obviously using the tyres to absorb the bumps so tyre pressures will need to be soft, that is what you need to do, a very vintage method, but works of course up to a point.
However current practice with car technology, including Morgans, is to fit springs and dampers that are designed for the job of absorbing bumps & road surface irregularities and controllig roll then set tyre pressures for grip and handling - works too.
Have fun - PJB.

Hi Alan and the rest of you guys, Tried her yesterday with the tyres at 18psi. So much better than the 25/26 they were. The boss also noticed the difference.
Will experiment a bit to see if I can get it any better.
On the subject of AVO shocks, I have a birthday coming up, I am visualising gift wrapped AVO's. The question is does one change the front only or all of them?

Huddie, depends what you are changing from. Also, why AVOs? Whats that wrong with SPAX or GAZ on the front of a 4/4?
As you live in Wiltshire, that's close enough to me (near Castle Combe) to try my 4/4 with the SUPLEX/Bilstein front suspension refinement system. Contact me on a personnal message if interested. Regards PJB.

I changed to AVO's about 3 years ago and find them a vast improvement over the standard factory rubbish ( beats me why Morgan fit cheap stuff to lovely cars).

I do recall the Avo shocks were developed in conjunction with one of the more established dealers - cant remember which one which is what one thing that swayed me, the other was the ease with which you can adjust the settings( its important to mount them in the correct orientation in order to access the little adjusting knob).

By the way I had a great run back home from the Ripon Classic car show on sunday via Masham, Leyburn, Reeth, Barnard Castle & Wolsingham its been a while since i have done this run I must remember not to leave it so long in future

Cheers
Alan

I have a plus 4 with an aluminium body. The original owner recommended 20 psi on the front and 18 on the back because of the lightness of the back.
