My mounts are flush. 3 screens? Now I am getting depressed! At that stage I think I might junk the screen and use Aeroscreens!

That's just about where I am Jays, + I think the look of the clean Sport line and Aeros will visually drop the whole thing even more - it's on my list !

Rather interestingly I have covered about 5K since the last screen was fitted (under factory instruction) at my dealers and the angle of rearward rake of the screen has increased enough to make the sidescreens crash at the top edge.
The real statement is that although I have sustained 3 screen impacts one in particular was a good clatter which has left a good sized chip - no cracks are appearing. I have to assume something changed with regard to the mounting of the screen although the dealer was very quiet when questioned and clearly under factory orders.

The only thing stopping me fitting the aero screens ....which I've had sitting in the garage for the past 18 months ...is drilling the top of the scuttle. There are three large holes lurking under the leather trim which I don't want to drill down into!

Thanks for the warning - the Williams Racer has a drivers Aero fitted, can Lawrie help with dimesions to avoid and or drill - someone must have a pattern.

I took a pattern from a car body shell in the factory last year but the measurements were from the rear of the coaming....which of course is covered with the leather trim! I want to avoid taking that off! Next time I'm down at Williams I'll take some measurements from the front of the scuttle and make up a template.

I noticed that the racers mostly have the leather removed, I wonder is that just weight saving or is it the end of the leather once it gets a good soaking with the water being driven between the metal and leather. One of the reasons for holding off getting the Aeros until I'm sure about that.
I tend to use Henry just with half tonnaue and need to be sure I can manage any water ingress, it keeps you pretty busy managing it without the sidescreens up anyway but that's the way I like my Morganing.
I'll aim to pick my screens up from Beck's when I'm over at Duxford for the Flying Legends Airshow in July when we have a family get together, by then the research should be complete !

Jays. Borghi in Milan mounts the aero screens on a stainless strip that is held in place using the tonneau cover screws. I think the original screws are replaced with something he has had made so that the tonneau can still be fitted. I am going back to pick up the car later this week and I can ask for more information.

Hi Peter, you put me on to Borghi way back when we were discussing folding screens and aeroscreens. As an alternative to drilling mounts I have been considering something similar but having a strip bolted to the screen mounts. Once I get my new screen fitted, I'll strip out the old frame and use the bottom of it as a template.

I believe it is the old type -2010 Oct. because I did say that if the problem would be solved by putting on the new type , I would be quite happy with that - but they still kept the old type on.
They really are a pain in the rear these windscreens.

The same month and your as mine Phil. So, the old type. I'm not sure if the later cast uprights can be retro fitted easily as I was told that the mounting holes are different. My problem would be that the later cast uprights would not fit with my Allon White hood as it used their own stainless upright with hidden catch at the top.
