Mine are even and flush - just a couple of pictures taken one extremely frosty morning on Dartmoor thus the roof. This shows the extent of rake added to the screen when the 3rd one was fitted, I have to ofset the reccess in the fixing brackets for the S/S to overcome it. The other manifestation is that the Rubber of the Screen is not in contact with the body at all near the centre line for about 10" but curved back under which I suspect is why I get wet feet every so often when it's really tipping down. P.S. I bought my last frame and screen back for 30 squid to reglaze at my leisure should the need arise My local agricultural/coach glazier will laminate it for about 30 squid also. This is a cost effective saving of £833 over the heated variety fitted.

If the problem is due to fixing screws going to deep into the frame and touching the glass, isn't it worth check for that before fitting a screen?

Hi Jay, Mine has the trad press stud hood - but they did not want to fit the new pillars - incidentally I was told that If I had the easy up hood the problem of cracks would not have happened - so much for that theory!! - anyway the hood was off the second time.

The general feeling was that it wasn't the screws at the dealers and I'd like to think they were aware of that one but who knows, this current screen has certainly outlasted the others even having withstood impacts.

When I ordered new (one was missing) screws from John Worrell at HoE I got an email making sure I knew which way round they went

When I picked up my Roadster in Feb with a trad hood I was told it was the first trad hood they had seen with the new style screen mount. I wondered then if this was to address the issue of screen cracking.

This might be considered a silly question here, but I'll stick my neck out: Has anyone heard of or tried a glass repair fluid called 'Windshield Repair Resin' - supposed to repair cracks?
and another: Is it possible to see if any of the studs are aligned with the crack at the top of the screen?

Richard, I haven't used the windscreen for years but I don't think there has been any water capillary action under the leather, an application of clear sealant helps.Worth a try?
