Charles Morgan himself has said: Something very much better has to come along before we change the sliding pillar (hub!) suspension. Well something very good has come along and I'm sure Morgan will change.

"I don't think anyone can do anything with LR cart springs!"..mmmm?...Graham, isn't that what somebody said about Morgan front suspension, and look what happened. PJB Yes, but I expect you still want a life outside of springs / suspension???

Parabolics are the next best I think but still flipping hard . Back on topic, I think the front suspension development is a great idea and would not take away the pleasure and feel of driving a Morgan. If I wanted that I would buy a MX5 or similar.

Graham, I had never thought of a life outside of suspensions, except Soviet motorcycles of course, nearly forgot those!
There have been thoughts on a composite carbon/fibre parabolic spring but there is so little room around the front pin it makes it impossible to make an interchangeable spring, I think. PJB

As a bonus the steering feels even lighter than it was previously. I don't know why that would be, unless it's my imagination. Depends on what the original setup was but the "Suplex Traditional Morgan Front suspension ‘Refinement System’" includes a set of ball bearing thrust races and seals which are either used in conjunction with, or optionally replace, the bronze thrust plates. If your car originally had the bronze plates (current models have thrust races) you would certainly notice a difference. Also, as per the instructions, the steering geometry would be correctly set up after fitting the kit.

Hi Mark, The reason your steering is lighter is that the rebound spring has only a very light contact on the stub axle or no contact at all if set up correctly so the stub axle isn't under tension from both springs in certain instances in excess of 500 inch pounds as cars are sent out from the factory. I am glad to hear that you like the feel of the car and yes it is a Morgan with vastly improved suspension. Regards David

PJB, regarding my original nylon bushings: Is it possible to push them further into the tube or are they glued or fixated in any way? Since they aren't worn but rather to tight I will have to ream them and would like to add the seal while I'm at it.

A question for PJB perhaps. The Mulfab steering roller bearing conversion and spring set comes with different springs dependent on the model (90 lb for 4/4 I think, heavier for +8 etc) which seemed logical. Does the Suplex kit come with just the one type of spring for all cars, in which case does the ride quality vary between light and heavy cars, or is that dealt with by the ridd height adjuster? Also the dampers are presumably just one "strength"? If I am displaying my ignorance, apologies. I am thinking of having this fitted soon to my 2005 4/4. Nigel

Just in case PJB isn't around: the different weights of the cars are compensated for by the ride height adjustment. The Suplex spring will be perfectly suited to your 4/4.

Thanks that's as I suspected. I am interested to know how though as a lighter car would ride higher requiring the spring to be shortened = compressed (height adjustment) but a normal spring would then be stiffer and have less travel left.
