On reflection, having served my apprenticeship in engineering in the 60s i can quite understand how the punching of louvres is probably partly an apprentice job. Therefore I also understand that swinging the handle on a fly press on a hot sunny Friday afternoon could easily result in a discrepancy of a louvre or two!

As I remember it on the Morgan Experience video the craftsman lined the bonnet up and then signalled to the apprentice who did the hard work of swinging the handle on the press.

But it was rebuilt in 89 with a new alloy bonnet.More recent models seem to have 8 per side and there is one in miscellany this month page 26 looks like G reg that seems to have 9 on the side. Im sure there is an expert out there somewhere?

Well Rosie has louvre but like all +8's probably not enough for the required ventilation to stop the engine running hot, especially in the summer. laugh2

I'm no expert but this must have varied over time. The Runabouts had no side louvres and something like eight on top. If you spec a bonnet strap, there's a louvre or two missing in some cases. The S1 Roadster side louvres are reversed - into the engine bay. Not sure if later Roadsters are the same but suspect they are.

I’m so glad this thread has come up. It has helped me confront this issue and talk openly about it for the first time. This has been really difficult for me. I’ve even considered professional counselling. My problem is, whilst I do have a full set on each side, I only have 6 on top! ooo

But now I can see the bigger picture. At least I’m not carrying all that extra weight of water sloshing around on top of my duratec and a full set at the sides and 6 on top does kind of match my head. joy

Hmmm. Well it's what's under the bonnet that's more important. Multiple Louvre Envy (MLE) is a problem, but with the right support you will enjoy a full MOG life again.

Hope this helps.

But, for those tempted, beware, you may find different numbers between sides! grin2
